Precise Disarray: Pretty good, easy to make, little goes a long way. Make it as thick or as thin as you want. Can cut it into something else that's creamy to stretch it. I dont use this often, but I keep a pack or two on hand just as an option. This is first time I ever bought a case. Price was good, and I figured having excess during these questionable times is good. If I am going to eat a lot of beans and rice, I want a way to flavor it in all sorts of ways, haha. Or making a simple biscuit and having something to dunk it in. Not limited to austere times, it sure makes for an anytime comfort food.

OK: This easy-to-use mix makes GREAT GRAVY that really, really, truly tastes homemade. For years, I made gravies "from scratch," till a friend introduced me to this amazing time saver. I've tried both this Country Sausage flavor & Pioneer's Peppered Gravy mix & this one's my favorite.
My husband's from the Southland, where chicken fried steaks and biscuits and gravy are required eating, so learning to make good gravy was a must. In my experience, people from Northern Climes tend to mis-understand this "white gravy" and how to properly cook & eat it. No, it's not intended to taste like bland white flour paste (and this brand does NOT). But here are some tips, just for those interested:
1. Here are the directions for a typical batch, from the package: just boil 1-1/2 cups WATER. Mix the contents of the package into 1/2 cup COLD water. Then add the gravy/water mix to the boiling water, reduce heat, simmer 2 minutes & done!
2. Here's how we do it, to make TEXAS GRAVY: as your 1-1/2 cups water's boiling, grind about 1/2 teaspoon black pepper into the water. Let it boil a minute or two (this will infuse the pepper into the water, intensifying the...
