SoYouCanDecide: Great seller and company.. I had a question and reached out to them and they responded with what I needed to know.
The item is great and you don’t need to use a lot of the product for it to work. I haven’t used the winter one yet but how the other ones react I can image it will be just as good.
Great idea and product.. worth adding to your inventory.

Ty: As far as how this fire starter performs? Well it goes above and beyond, seriously, this stuff burns quite hot as well as for a lengthy period of time as advertised; sure to get any emergency fire going in even terrible conditions! It's entirely wind resistant, you can drop it in the water, it'll float, then you merely squeeze any water out and it will ignite just fine. Also it's extremely easy to ignite, a tiny spark, or just touching a lighter / match flame to the "fluffed" prepared end of it and it lights instantly.

The only downside is how harsh this stuff is.. Trust me when I say, you do NOT want to be near the smoke this putty emits; not even a bit of it breathed in from the wind coming back at you. I was steering clear of it, but when I tested out it's resistance to wind by blowing on it several times; I pulled in a few bounced back / mild inhalations of the smoke and it was absolutely terrible. My nose, up through my sinuses, trachea, bronchial tubes and eyes all burned rather severely for 35-40 minutes until it began to subside. I took my gloves off and removed my contacts, flushing my eyes as well as getting fresh air until it improved but it was not a good time....

Thomas Coffey: 1. This stuff is expensive in any form, especially more so in these 0.5oz mini-tins.
2. It does ignite relatively easily when "stretched/webbed" for filaments with, say, a BIC, match, or Arc Lighter; typically need a bigger area "target" for easily igniting with a Ferrocerium rod or sparker of some sort, but that's more the less directed nature of the sparks.
3. The stuff works as a fire starter, and if you use a tiny amount and smear/stretch it on the tip of a fuzz stick, it is both easy to ignite and makes that stick a tinder-torch stick in to ignite the tinder in your fire lay.
4. Even if damp or in the rain a stretched strand of this does ignite and continue to burn... this is an advantage over a home made Cotton-Vaseline starter whose filaments easily wet-out.
5. These 0.5oz tins are acceptable in size/weight for a backpacker to tuck into a fire-kit as an all-weather emergency fire-starter, relying first on, say, home-made Cotton-Vaseline starters, fatwood, or wood scrapings to easily ignite campfires for far less cost of starter. As such, a mini makes a nice gift for a Backpacker.
