MT: Fascinating, for adults and kids alike. Lots of surprising information and hands-on activities to try in the forest. What can I say, now I added a stetoscope to my backpack, to listen to the trees drink when we go for a hike in the forest.

Lib'ty Twp: The author's other books on this subject have been clear, significant, and well-received; however, this attempt to reach younger readers has difficulties in its attempt. The vocabulary level, necessary for this relationship review of trees and fungi, was not quite achievable for readers below middle school and yet too childish for science-minded adult readers.

Mairead: This book is well presented for young readers in a way which sparks a curiosity to learn about trees as living beings. I love that the contents are organised as questions with each page answering that question. It's just filled with fascinating facts about trees.

Canadian Girl: I also read the highly recommended title, The Hidden Life of Trees, by the same author . This is the kids' version. It is a lovely book and very educational. I am reading it to my grandchildren. I have learned a lot too. It gives children a different perspective on trees than the one put out by forest industry and it is well documented with scientific research about plants and trees. How little we really understand! Teach your children to value, appreciate, and better understand the forests and trees around them.

Melis H.: My nature obsessed 7 yo loves this book. We read only 1 or 2 pages a night bc we are trying to really understand and retain the Info. We recall info we’ve learned while we’re out on hikes or forest play dates. Love this book for child and parent. I’d recommend it for kids age 7+. My 5yo spaces out a lot when we read it and my 3 yo doesn’t even try to pay attention.
