Even when the dogs are playing with each other and biting at each other's collars, the tags have never come close to falling off. It's very nice to have them actually on the collar so the dogs don't bite at them like they would if the tag was hanging. The writing is very clear and easy to read without getting close, which would be very important if my dogs ran away and someone was trying to read the collar without. having to hold them down too much and scare them.

Lady Quixote: I've purchased a lot of dog tags over the years. The problem with the dangling kind is that the tags constantly bang and clang against the dogs' stainless steel bowl while they eat and drink, which has to be annoying for the poor dogs to hear. I know it annoys me! Also, our little poodle once got his dangling metal tag caught in a metal rack, he couldn't escape on his own, which terrified him. Thank God I was there to release him, otherwise it could have been fatal.
About a year ago, I purchased a dog tag that slides on the collar, similar to the way this one does. Only that tag was made of rubber. Nice and soft, I thought that was going to be a great alternative to the metal tag. But sadly, the printing on the rubber tag quickly wore. When I realized that the rubber tag was unreadable, I was worried that I would have to go back to a dangling, noisy, dangerous metal tag. But then I found this tag, which is perfect. I bought two, a large for our big mystery mix girl, and a small for our little poodle. The engraving is perfect. The tags go on fairly easily and stay on securely. No more dangerous dangling, banging and clanging. And this type of engraving isn't going to wear...

Diana MDiana M: I ordered 2 x-sm tags to fit a 3/8in collar for my cats. They are indoor cats, but I do take them outside on a harness so I wanted some kind of ID should the worst happen. I plan to use their collars for outdoor trips/ vet visits, and in case for emergency situations (and would suggest that all pet owners have ID, even if they don't wear them 25/7).
Product wise, it came in a timely manner, seems durable, not easy to get off, comfortable for pets, and the engraving is deep. It is shiny, so reading from a distance is unlikely but I would think any tag on a moving animal would be. My main concern was that they don't look like strays and if caught (assuming the collar stays on) people will have my info.
I'm leaving this review mostly for other cat owners, as I spent some time deciding what I should get. These tags don't interfere with my playful 1yr olds and fit well on a small collar. However, due to the small tag I would suggest you limit what you put on there as the print is small. Michael S.: I have an Invisible Fence, the collars of which don't have rings to attach tags. I wasn't comfortable with that. What if the fence fails, or pooch escapes and can't get back in? These tags are the perfect solution for Invisible Fence collars, or any other collar, for that matter. They slip snugly on the collar. The engraving is deep and quite legible and with less opportunity for abrasion, I expect them to last a very long time. They don't make the jangling noise hanging dog tags do and with two dogs, there is less temptation for the dogs to tug on each other's tags, potentially pulling them off. No more relying on those flimsy wire rings to hold the tags securely to the collars. The design is sleek and simple, complimenting their beautiful Lupine Pet collars. Be sure to get the right tag size for the collar width you are using to avoid loose fitting tags that could fall off. After a lot of thought I went with the following text, which fit neatly on the tag while still being legible:
