Darryl Gardner Harris: Well I finial got a chance to use this product, does it have an expiration date. I tried to get a spark and nothing happen.

I wouldn't feel comfortable with this if I need to start a fire in the woods. Maybe I have a bad one...somethings you can get that in products.

Diane: I had “permanent match” years ago and when I saw this, I thought the price was right and decided to order. Since I had owned one before, I knew that there is a coating on the Flint rod, that needs to be scratched off first before it will work every time (however, it’s also on the instructions). I saw a guy review this on YouTube and he literally had no idea how to use it…he, also, never read the instructions!
Most important to note is: only fill with fluid MADE FOR LIGHTERS, (sold in stores where cigarettes are sold).
Only use a few drops. When striking, press the FLAT edge onto the flint rod on the side of the unit and “strike” with firm pressure. Once the coating is removed, it only takes 1 strike to light it…every time.

Clang: The good: Nice big wind resistant flame. Small and light.

The bad: Needs multiple strikes to get a flame to catch. Budget components.

The verdict: Worth it as a primary source of fire for camping and backpacking. But, this is a budget metal match. Better to spend the extra money and buy a brand name one.

Amazon Customer: I hope the title sums it up.
When you pull out the striker it leaves a hole where all the fluid is. When I went to strike, it sparked really nice. But the wick didn't light, instead, the flame came from the open hole left by the wick. The sparks found the easy way to the fluid rather than the wick. I was afraid it would melt down in my hand so I threw it on the ground and then once flame was out, I trashed it. Wasn't worth the effort or the money. I replaced it with one from the $ store and it worked just fine. Don't buy this one!
