WayneB: This was much much smaller than expected, in terms of width, thickness, etc... I got it for my Macaw to climb up onto a perch I had. Its obviously too small for him, but yet he was able to bite onto it and climb up. After maybe 2-3 days he just decided to bite and destroy it in 2 seconds. But he will do that with any wood toy even very sturdy and big ones.
For a small size bird, this is probably perfect.

Past Midlife and OK with It: Just a bit unweildly getting it in and out of a small cage to clean, but was easy to trim off one rung. I was a little worried that my parakeet might try to eat the grit on the rungs, but she hasn't shown any interest in doing that, fortunately. Since she came from a pet shop, her flight feathers were trimmed very short (worrisome). She cannot even glide, so she uses the ladder a lot and loves to carry things up and down which she can't do climbing the side of the cage when she needs her beak to hang on.
