We were going to be gone for 8 days on vacation and our daughter had just gotten her first pet, a Betta fish! It said 7 days on the package. So, we were a little worried that the fish would not have enough food while we were gone. Although we had a juvenile Betta, this was plenty of food for the duration of our trip. There was actually still food left when we returned 8 days later. The fish was lively and didn't seem to notice we were gone or have any abnormal behavior. We were really pleased with the product and have 5 more dissolvable capsules for the next time we leave town. We were especially happy about the slow dissolving nature of the tablets. I won't worry the next time we have to leave town!

I left for 5 days and placed 1 in the tank for my betta fish. It seemed to work since he's still alive! Only thing is that they aren't colored liked the picture, they are all white. And it's a bit messy after it desolves.

My first betta fish, Freddie Mercury, an adorable halfmoon-tail stars & stripes betta, died at age 2.5 years old a few days after using this product (Penn Plax PBV1 7-Day Vacation Fish Feeder) while I was out of town for a long weekend. I even go the one that says for betta.
I assumed Freddie passed due to his age; he'd also had a tail injury awhile back.
But ...
I got my second betta fish, a beautiful platinum dragonscale plakat named Sebastian, and used one of these for a 3-day trip. Came home and within 2 days he was deceased. I'd only had him for a few weeks, and all water parameters, temperature, clarity, etc. were good, he was active as can be before I fed him one of these.
I am devastated as I read these reviews because now I feel both their deaths could have been prevented. My pets are like my babies - yes, even my bettas - and I am so saddened that they did not get longer, healthier lives... seemingly because of this product.

These almost killed our betta. We have two bettas, used this product in one tank and the last feeder from another company in the other tank while on holidays for a week. The other company 's feeder worked perfectly, but this one didn't dissolve at all and our betta looked horrible when we returned. DO NOT BUY if you care about your betta!
