David: Honestly not sure if my unit really needed this, but it was super easy to install. I think my compressor was having a little trouble starting regularly in the heat of the summer, sometimes would take a couple attempts. I changed out the capacitor at the same time I added this kit. So the new capacitor alone probably was all that's needed. But I have 3 units covering my home and garage, so I had read these kits can be useful in multiple unit installations. From everything I read and watched, these kits are often the first go to solution for many professional AC repair services. It's affordable enough, and easy to install myself, so I'm glad I bought it.
