Gary Johnson: Product worked very well. Just had to figure out which way was left, lol.
I would have liked a larger bottle of grease remover. The bottle that came with the kit
would only last for two cleanings. The liquid degreaser is clear as water. It came out inky
black, and I thought my chain was pretty clean! Otherwise very good.

JONNY W: A bit overkill to have a dedicated tool to clean a bike chain which I don't do that often but this does the job well. The handle attaches to both sides so you can put the chain through in both directions. You don't get much cleaner fluid so its not great value for money. Does the job and providing the gear cleaner/brush is nice to have and saves destroying sponges - so maybe not so bad value.

Mike: The tool is superb. Very well made, robust, comes with good instructions and does a great job of cleaning crud out of your chain. You may need to experiment with which gear you have the bike in before you start back pedalling, the chain needs to be as straight as possible, but overall very impressed.

The degreaser that comes in this kit however, is not something I would recommend or ever buy again. It arrived in a separated state, very thin liquid with lumps of what felt like soap, some of which were so large as to clog the bottle. No amount of shaking the bottle would remedy this. Don't get me wrong, it did work to clean the chain, but because of the lumps it wouldn't pour cleanly into the tool (I went to pour it not realising how lumpy it was) and things got very messy very quickly. I still have lumps of degreaser down between the block paving on my driveway from several weeks ago when I used it.

Buy the tool, use a different degreaser, and you'll be sorted.

vincent: Nickel, outil très utile pour dégraisser la chaîne d'un vtt ou d'un velo de route surtout si on est pas chez soit dans son garage . En général, je suis assez maniaque, car je démonte après chaque sortie la chaîne et je la fait tremper dans du gasoil pendant quelques jours ou une journée si je suis pressé et je la passe ensuite au compresseur pour enlever tout reste de résidu (boues, poussières, etc.. ) et aussi m'assurer qu'il ne reste pas de gasoil entre les maillons.
Ce kit me permet quand je suis en vacance de pouvoir nettoyer la chaîne et m'assurer de ne pas avoir de soucis sur mes prochaines sorties.
Decathlon fait aussi un nettoyeur de chaine et vend un liquide pour nettoyer la chaine mais j'ai préférer prendre celui-ci car je pense que park tool connait bien sont affaire surtout qu'il y a eu chez decathlon un soucis sur leur fabrication. Astuce si vous n'avez plus de produit , vous pouvez le remplacer par du liquide vaisselle 1er prix mélangé avec de l'eau.

KITKIT: This tool does a great job cleaning the chain. I've had it sitting on my workbench until after ridding a very muddy MTB race two weekends ago. As many reviews have mentioned this process is a little messy - however that is just the nature of a chain moving at speed through and around gears wet with cleaner or soap etc..so just know you are going to put an old beach towel down below your work area and no problem. Also as many reviewers have said a bike stand is very helpful to have to use this tool.

I really liked the gear cleaning brush ( I used it with soapy water) to clean out the cassette's cogs. Note however, the plastic pick side of the brush will not fit between the rear cogs if you have a newer 10+ speed rear cassette (mine is an 8 speed and it worked fine).Once I mounted the Cleaning tool on my chain and filled it to the fill line with the provided bottle of the ChainBrite cleaning solution - I started running the cranks backwards and the chain cleaning began. The after photo is what the tools results were. Afterwards cleaning the tool itself was very easy - just take the top off as well as the sponge and brushes assembly and rinse everything out.

TC: This is a must have tool to clean your chain. This is simple to use and easy to clean after use.

How To Use This Tool
1. Move chain to the smallest cog on the cassette (the cassette is the series of connected cogs on the rear wheel).

2. Attach the cleaning tool to the bottom section of chain; ensuring the chain is seated in the cleaning wheel apparatus.

3. Pour cleaning solution into the top fill hole of the cleaning tool. The fill line is labeled on the side of the tool.

4. Run your crank in reverse while holding the tool, about 30 revolutions. Once done, remove the cleaning tool and dispose of cleaning solution.

5. With a clean rag or towel wipe the excess from your chain, front chainring, and cassette. Use the brush on the cassette to clean the individual cogs, and the hard curved side to clean heavy grime between the cogs.

6. Rinse the cleaning tool and fill with warm soapy water, affix to the chain again and run your crank in reverse, about 30 revolutions. Once done, remove cleaning tool and dispose of dirty soapy water.

7. Again, with a clean rag or towel wipe the excess from your chain, front chainring, and...

CPTJOHNC: Caveat: I have only used the system once so far, so I cannot speak to longevity, durability or a few other complaints I've seen. That said, I see no reason why, with reasonable care, the basic system wouldn't last a reasonable length of time. The brushes and sponges are designed as replaceable parts, so... expect to replace them?

The good: It is pretty easy to use, and it seemed to do a good job of getting the grime and grit out of my chain. The included brush helped to get the same off of the cogs and chainrings. I only ran my chain through two cycles (of 30 turns each), but I suspect with another repeat or three, it would be almost completely grime free.

The Meh: it was definitely a struggle to keep the chain running smoothly while working through the system. the extra resistance and the difficulty in keeping it precisely in-line meant I slipped my chain off the chain rings several times and had to re-position the chain in order to continue. I suspect with additional practice (and/or with a real workstand) this problem would largely go away.

The Not-so-Good: It is messy. I knew this going in, so I certainly wasn't surprised, but it really does spray the...
