Lynnette215: I purchased this for my grand daughter who just turned four and is in pre school.shes taught sight words and she recognizes

A lot of words.I figured if I get her this is the first step of reading .that's how you read .knowing the words you recognize that's how you read

She picks up quick this is great for kids learning words and learn how to read

Dee: I’ve been using these books for my kindergarten stations. I pre-teach the sight words, use a recordable button for students to reference if they forget the sight word, and have them point and read the words in the book. Keep in mind that most words in this book are not decodable for young readers, but if you are using for sight word recognition- they are a great resource!

OhNoOhNo: I figure this review will be rather long. So for any desperate parent scrolling through countless reviews on countless similar items , I will do you the favor and stress how much this book set impressed me! If you have a kindergartner or first grader who is really STRUGGLING with reading then PLEASE trust that this PURCHASE could help.

My daughter never attended preschool. She entered kindergarten struggling with barely being able to recite her ABC’s but would NOT cooperate with any of my many approaches and efforts to assist her through practicing, learning through play, incorporating letter board puzzles and alphabet toys into her collection of toys, etc.

I am currently majoring in early childhood education, where I had learn different techniques to encourage kids to learn but most of these techniques focus on learning through discovery and what is of interest to the child. As a matter of fact, my teachers even stress not to force reading on children who do not display in eagerness or readiness to read. Following this advice, made beginning kinder a total...

Ash: I am a teacher and I used these to begin teaching my son to read just before he turned 3 and used them until he was 5. We love these little books! Great for beginning readers! I love that they focus on sight words! They are basic pattern books that repeat to help beginning readers learn their sight words. They are bound with two staples vs string. The book is thin. It’s a cheaper quality but better than the levelled Scholastic books Levelled A,B,C, etc which are bound with thin string. These are really only suitable for age 3-5. Basically before kindergarten or mid kindergarten. Kids should be reading beyond this level by the time they reach grade 1!! In grade 1, kids should be starting the year at level D. However, our schools don't teach kids to read in kindergarten which is unfortunate because they are expected to be reading when they reach grade 1 which makes no sense! So, this is a great resource for parents to help kids in the initial stages of reading and to prepare them for school. Also get your kids to learn the first 100 sight words as this will help them by the time they reach grade 1. This is critical for them to progress in reading in grade 1.
