Kelsey Jacobi: Dive into a real look about how two people hurt, and how they hurt differently. This book explores the idea that you don’t necessarily need to love yourself in order to love someone else. But prepare to also have your heart ripped out and stomped on while reading this book. I was very impressed. My major critique is it is a slow moving book though.

AnanyaAnanya: Violet Markey was finding it very hard to act normally like before especially when the situation has changed altogether. After the death of her sister in a car accident, she has gone through a complete transformation, from being a vivacious girl who operates a writing blog along with her sister to a reclusive and isolated one who hasn't even enter into a car since then. Violet was the kind of person who loves to scribble down the finest of details. However penning down a single sentence has now become a torture for the seventeen-year old girl. Now after the demise of her beloved sister-cum-companion, she found herself trapped into an enclosed path, having no possible way out. Fixed in the cycle of mourning and loathing, she was trying to escape from her own past.

Viciously stuck in her self-berating notions, one day, when she found herself standing on the ledge of the bell tower, it turned out to be the most dreadful dream of hers. Having found herself being saved by a boy, who was also there for some reason, was both shocking as well as astonishing for her. Theodore Finch, popularly known as Theodore Freak, was studying in the same Bartlett high school of Violet's. Because...

The Bibliophile Girl: Much like Eleanor & Park, All The Bright Places is surrounded by a world of hype, people who read it, then re-read it religiously, people who think this is the best teen fiction book around.

Theodore Finch constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him. That 'something good' is Violet Markey.

Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, crossing off each day on her calendar. Graduation is the day when she can escape her numbing grief in the wake of her sister’s recent death.

When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, their worlds collide. It’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself, not the 'freak' that the rest of the school has labelled him. And it’s only with Finch that Violet can start to move past her sister's death and to start living the days that she so eagerly wanted to wish away. But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink.

For me, this book is over-rated but that doesn't mean that I hated it, I just don't understand the hype.

Through the characters of Violet and Finch, debut author Jennifer...

ADITI SAHA: But in the end one needs more courage to live than to kill himself.”

----Albert Camus

Jennifer Niven, an American author, has penned a heart-breaking love story about two teenagers in her book, All the Bright Places that weaves a beautiful yet devastating tale of young love where both the primary characters are suffering from their own trauma yet their strange encounter brings them closer in a weird way but destiny has other and sad plans for these two innocent souls.

Synopsis:

Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him.

Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister's recent death.

When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it's unclear who saves whom.

Amazon Customer: “The thing I realize is, that it's not what you take, it's what you leave."

This is one of those books that is difficult to review because it's so utterly beautiful and gut-wrenching that no amount of words will do the book justice. Every single line in this novel is quote-worthy, and is life-changing. Seriously, when you read this book (and you should be reading it right this second), your eyes will be opened and you'll realize how breathtaking the writing is. Ms. Niven knows her way with words, and the story she has created will sweep you off of your feet. You might not realize at first how much you are enjoying the story, and then suddenly...BAM! It hits you. You might need to put it down for a second to do something, but you'll find that you can't because you need to find out what will happen to these characters and make sure things turn out okay (even though you know deep down that the conclusion won't be that okay). Honestly, this book will give you an experience like no other, and it is an experience everyone needs to have.

“The great thing about this life of ours is that you can be someone different to everybody.”

This novel follows Finch and...

Lostbraincell: I received an ARC from the publisher; however, the following is still my honest opinion.

Sometimes a book manages a rare feat of being a combination of every wonderful thing a YA contemporary book could be all in one. All the Bright Places manages this with its heart, humor, love and depth. If I could recommend one book to anyone, it will be All the Bright Places and I can’t imagine that changing for a long time to come. It’s hard to write a review for one of the best books you have ever read, and truly All the Bright Places has earned a place among my favorite books of all time. I finished reading my ARC a few weeks ago, and yet here I am still consumed with so many thoughts, emotions and feelings about how amazing this book was. This book gets blurbed as “The Fault in Our Stars meets Eleanor and Park” and while those books are great too, this book doesn’t need comparisons or propping from other YA books because it truly is so wonderfully written that it stands out all on its own, apart from anything else.

Finch and Violet captured my heart. Finch and Violet meet at the top of their schools bell tower and against all odds become friends. They come from two...
