JamieB: I don't even have words right now. This book had me from the very beginning.

I knew Manon was going to step up at some point, and boy did she in this one. I fell in love with her. And Abraxos. You just knew he was going to be perfect for her. Their relationship is so strong and you see it throughout this book.

Dorian continues to grow. I still am a huge fan of him. He's starting to get his feet back under him. He's been wronged so much so I get it. I'm also loving this story line with Manon.

And to one of my favorite couples...Rowan and Aelin. Ugh, these two are just so perfect for each other. But I have to say, Aelin had me in tears a couple of times. When she is reunited with Elide and Manon, I wasn't even expecting the tears that came out of me, but boy did they ever. The lead up to that already had me on the edge of my seat but dang, that was so heartfelt, I felt it through the pages. And then again towards the end. I won't say, because I don't want to spoil anything, but again they flowed. I can't finish the last 12 chapters of Tower of Dawn fast enough!

Val: The ending was unexpected… not necessarily what I thought it would be, but let’s see where the story takes us. The book was great. I recommend the series (at least so far). SJM is a very talented writer. I do hope there aren’t more similarities with ACOTAR in the next books as it can become a bit repetitive.

Stacey: Wow! Loved this book, the series just keeps growing and changing. Can’t wait to read the next book to see where it will all go.

Charlotte Watkins: ’But there was no such thing as a better world – no such thing as a happy end.’

‘Empire of Storms’ is the first book in the ‘Throne Of Glass’ series that wasn’t a re-read for me so naturally I was highly excited to discover exactly what would happen next. Especially given just how extreme the danger consistently is within this devastatingly brutal yet enchanting world. Needless to say I was hooked on this novel and didn’t want to put it down. Every moment spent lost within its pages was a delight and I can’t wait to discover exactly how this series will end.

Like the previous books in the series this book is jam packed with action, adventure, danger, romance and intrigue. There’s so much darkness and devastation yet all of the romances that you also get to watch play out sizzle with heat. There were times, I admit, where I was left wandering is this series truly is YA due to how heated some of the scenes became. The romance and depth of feeling behind all these pairings never ceases to amaze me though. Every connection seems to crackle with chemistry which is a wonder to behold.

There are lots of twists, turns and dramatic showdowns....

Ray Flores: It’s been a while since Aelin has reclaimed her throne, and whilst she’s the rightful heir to Terrasen, that doesn’t mean the lords of the north will join her cause into war. So, along with her small Court, she will have to find new allies and perhaps, reclaim a favor or two.

Empire of Storms is filled with action scenes that are memorable and the more we get to know these characters, the more we care about them. Aelin’s Court is one of my favorite found-families because everybody is so different and they’re constantly teasing each other yet, they willingly risk their lives any chance given so the whole world can be a better place.

I do have mixed feelings about some interactions but that’s because circumstances haven’t been exactly a party. For example, I want Gavriel and Aedion to share some father-son moments without Aedion being constantly on edge. The same happens with Manon and Dorian being a couple. I think Dorian has suffered from the very beginning and he deserves better, so I’m not sure Manon can bring a better side of him after all he’s been through.

On the other hand, Elide and Lorcan’s interaction always made me laugh (I have a...

Payne’s Bookworm Reviews: Wowzers! I’m am utter speechless, I’m not sure what to say about this book. It’s so jammed packed. But the ending WTF!!! Seriously why you gonna do me like that? New relationship, stronger bonds, new enemies, old friends and allies and so much more. So many twists, turns and unexpected moments to be had in this books. I really hope you give it a chance as I did.

After defeating the previous King of Adarlan and helping Dorian claim the crown, Aelin Ashryver Galathynius along with Rowan Whitethorn, Aedion Ashryver and Lysandra have arrived in Terrasen to claim Aelin’s crown and armies to fight the war. Only, the lords that still exist have decided she is not fit for the throne, even though 1. They hadn’t meet her, 2. She has been fighting while they have been sitting on their butts. She has been forced out of her home once again, until she prove herself to these so called lords. But Aelin is going to gather an army and protect her home wether the lords want her to or not.

“To call in old debts and promises. To raise an army of assassins and thieves and exiles and commoners. To finish what was started long, long ago.”

While Aelin, Rowan, Aedion and...

Kyera: Re-Read Update:
This book destroyed me. I cheered when my baby, Abraxos, appeared (legitimately out loud cheered) and wanted to cry at those fateful words. If you've read this book, you know which ones I'm referring to and if not, I can't say because there would be spoilers. Despite the issues and shift in the characterization of some of our leads, this book takes you on an incredible emotional journey with highs that make you cheer (see above) and lows that bring you to tears (almost).

Despite the length of the book, I didn't feel as though the story lagged or the pacing was poor. Any free minute I had, I immediately turned to the book to continue where I left off. Even knowing what was going to happen, it managed to enthrall me.

One of the problems that I have with this book is its portrayal of relationships. There are aspects of it that are so swoon-worthy and make your heart hurt, but there are some that are not healthy. It's nice to see diverse portrayals of love and relationships, but my concern is that a young adult reader might see the territorial Fae nonsense in the book and not realize that it's an extreme. It might seem normalized. As I am not a...

David Maldonado: I want you to stop for a moment and think about all the characters within the Throne of Glass series, how you perceived them, what they look like, what they sound like, and the decisions they are known to make. Now, throw all of what you know into a blender. Close the lid. Press down on the go button and turn the nozzle all the way up to its highest level. What you are left with is a nourishing and new delightful new dish that our minds weren't ready for. Sarah J Maas turns everything upside down in Empire of Storms, her 5th installment in the series, which has us all scrambling for more immediately.

Maas brilliantly makes each of her characters into something they weren't before. They all develop organically into new people, but these new developments make perfect sense. For example, Aelin begins the book heading North of Terrasen in order to help build herself an army. She finds that the people are not so inclined to back her up, considering she's been gone for over 10 years, but was actually always present with her sworn enemy, the late King of Adarlan, playing as his puppet assassin as Cealena Sardothien. Many don't take too kindly to her history, and many of those that...
