Joseph A O'Reilly: This is among my favorite brands anywhere. As a native Georgian, life-time grits consumer and really picky cook (and eater) who cannot remember NOT eating grits, this brand (yellow and white) is the real deal. A bit of salt and a 1:4 grits: water ratio, about 30 minutes and you are ready. Right consistency. Righty mouth feel and great base to modify for shrimp and, cheese and, and every other variation I have tried. A bit of time and effort (stirring a must) and you have a perfect accompaniment for bacon, eggs and black pepper (me) or brown sugar and cream (shudder) for my Missourian wife. Only wish the online cost was more in line with the local (SC) price but still, worth it for a great meal.

TTYME: I've always liked grits - so I thought, until last Sunday. Sadly, the only grits I knew were grocer variety quick grits. Hey, I'm not southern though I've been living in the South a solid 20 years. But I always "felt away" about them so ate them rarely. But lately, my mom and I had been crazing grits more than usual, so I decided to go on a quest for a less processed variety, not even knowing if there was such a thing. That's when I discovered the types of processing - those quick oats that have been totally stripped of any nutrative value, cooked, and chemically process; stone cut grits which is far better than the former but introduced nutrion altering heat; and stone ground which leaves nutrients more intact. And in the process, I discovered this easily accessible brand. Seeing the high number of positive reviews, I bought some. I pulled them out the box and tried them the next day. Let me just say, I am HOOKED! I don't think I can ever eat that overly-processed, denatured, enriched, flavorless goop masquerading as grits from the grocery store again!
