Ed D.Ed D.: This is a decent enough 12 gauge bore sight for the money. In the pic you can see that it is slightly off center of the barrel. You can work the bolt and make it adjust slightly, but never perfectly aligned with the center of the barrel. I would venture to say that if the "outside diameter" of this bore sight were slightly bigger, and fit a bit more snug in the chamber, it would line up perfectly. Nevertheless, it serves the purpose I have for it. And as most, if not all red lasers, it is brightly visible in low light conditions.

In all fairness, I have to say this. When the bore sight is placed in the chamber and held gently by the finger, it aligns perfectly. So it is apparently the pressure of the closed bolt that misaligns it.

If it weren't for this slight misalignment, and it not having an on/off switch, I would give it 5 stars.

Matthew R: I have used a couple of these laser bore sight tools and this one works just like the others. First off, you need to chamber it manually. Lock the bolt back and place it in the chamber by hand. Slowly release the bolt to touch it. It is a laser and you cannot expect to put it in a magazine and load it that way. That will destroy any brand of laser bore sight tools. There is no switch to turn it on or off. Having batteries in it causes it to be on.

Remove it with caution as well. These are as delicate as a laser pointer would be. (don't eject it like you would a regular round) This could mean locking the bolt back and shaking it out manually.

I find that these are excellent for setting windage. They get you right on target. The elevation is a different story. I suppose at a specific yardage it would be perfect but I have found that it just "gets you on the paper" and you can manually adjust the elevation by trial and error after you remove the tool. I really do like to be able to quickly get the windage perfect though.

These are relatively cheap and if you know how to chamber it without damaging it they are easy enough to use. I used it to setup a red/green dot...

August Noon: No batteries. It clearly says they are included and they are even in the second picture. Don’t get me wrong, the thing seems like it’s built well, but how am I supposed to know that? There is no power source. I need this gun sighted in for tomorrow which is why I pay for prime, on time, fast shipping. And I bought this because it looked well made and supposedly included batteries and would be here by today. I live in the country and now have to go look for some obscure lithium ion batteries at the feed or hardware store in town. I don’t have a good feeling about that... if the product works well and the seller does something to make this right, I may very well change this review to five stars. Until then, there you go.

Edit: I finally got to a neighboring town and got some 357 batteries. While I’m still not happy that it didn’t come with batteries as advertised, once I got them this is the best made laser bore sighter I’ve ever owned. Including the expensive ones for rifles and pistols. All of them could use an on/off switch, but on the last thread, this one turns off. My others don’t. Matt P: Not bad, way better than trying to eyeball it. Before using it, I put a mark on the back side, then after dialing it in, I rotated laser and took readings every 90' just to see what happened. It was off but only a little. I have tinkeritis so I dialed it until the laser would circle the center (again we aren't talking much, about a laser dot width at 50 yards) it would be good to go if I needed it before I can get to the range.
The only thing to watch for are the batteries... I don't mind that you have to take them out to turn it off. It makes for a more stable platform not having to install some kind of switching control system. I'm sure the price is better because they left the switch out. But what happened is the first unit didn't work so they sent another and paid to pick up the first (communication & logistics rock) well it didn't work either. I happened to notice the batteries looked the same as those in my lasermax and sure enough they were. I put "my" batteries in and both lasers worked fine. I had to cut the batteries they shipped out of their blister packs so all indications were they were brand new never used batteries but all of them arrived DOA.
