Mama Bear: I live in the Midwest and we hade some sub zero days this past winter. One day I opened my dryer and discovered that I had never started it. Not only were the clothes wet, they were also frozen. I figured that wasn't a good sign for my heating bill, so I jumped on Amazon in hopes of finding something to help. I came across this vent cover which is designed to keep out critters, but I hoped it would also keep our the cold air. It is very well constructed, the plastic is a nice quality, and it looks tidy on the outside of the house. The pipe was a bit long for my application, but I'm sure that allows for it to fit a wider variety of construction. It was easy to install, I trimmed the pipe coming through the wall to the correct length with tin snips. I did also install a damper on the inside of the house. I was concerned that with the damper the vent cover wouldn't get enough airflow to open, but the two items worked perfectly together and I have noticed a significant decrease of the draft. I would absolutely buy another one of these should I have need in another home.

Scott: purchased 2 for 2 different houses. The one out of the wind is still ok since 2021. The one in the path of the wind is no good/ cracked.

Merchant of Truth: We had one of the Chimney Pipe style Dryer Vents for 15 years. After it lost its latch a few years back, it became unreliable and would occasionally blow its stopper out.

While looking for a replacement, we wanted something that kept the energy savings benefits but had a lower profile. This fit the bill.

During install, we found it was a little too low profile and we needed to back it up with a PVC board in order to fully cover the dryer opening in our brick. In looking at the No pest vent website, we discovered that they sell many versions of this product with and without accessories, like the backing plate we made ourselves. It's worth a look to see if a different model will work better for you.

The magnet is sized just right to securely close and open when the dryer is on. I hope it lasts for another 15 years!
