Esai ArasiEsai Arasi: I still strongly believe, this is a book EVEEYONE should read. This book doesn't start with "tips" and "strategies", but with understanding what type of fear is holding us back. (Apparently there are 7, did you know??) This book starts with a place of understanding.
A lot of advice we get in handling fear feels like it doesn't apply to us. "They won't say that if they knew what I was going through. This won't work for me because of my specific situation" This is the dialogue that runs through our head any time we encounter advice on how to handle fear.
In this book Ruth talk about the 7 fear archetypes (that she discovered through actual research), how they are each so very different from each other and how to handle them.
The fear assessment that she offers alongwith the book is incredible. It's a 100% worth the investment to upgrade to the full assessment. It highlighted the specific ways in which I was letting fear hold me back in my life.
The books is packed with a lot of values and insights. Once your know what your fear archetype is, it'll become much easier for you to understand and figure out how to handle it. It's freaky how accurate this book...

ERKennedy: I feel so lucky to have read Ruth Soukup's new book Do it Scared! I just finished the book and really enjoyed reading it and will be working on all the exercises to make some big changes in my life. My favorite genre of book is self-help and I've read a lot of them! I have to say I often get bored in the middle of a book or distracted because it's not keeping my attention. Ruth's writing is easy, engaging and moves along quickly so there isn't time to get bored!
The book begins with a suggestion to do an online assessment to see which fear archetypes rule your personality. My leading one was procrastinator which at first glance I disagreed with, but when I read the description I realized it's right on target. I never would have labeled myself a procrastinator because I am constantly busy and getting tons done every day. But when I look at it in depth and see that when it relates to my big goals I am for sure procrastinating getting my big goal accomplished by keeping busy and distracted with endless to do lists.
I think the book has the potential to help many people make big changes in their lives... but she is clear in her message that it's not easy and won't happen...

Catherine Holden: "In “Doing it Scared”, author Ruth Soukup discloses the seven fear archetypes that she has uncovered through her research into what holds people back from achieving their goals. In the first section of the book, she describes these seven archetypes with through the medium of storytelling and defining the characteristic traits. She then outlines some “rules for life” that can help any type to get past their fear and achieve the life they want. Finally, Ruth provides a roadmap for uncovering your “what”, “why” and, of course, how to break it down into actionable steps.
Whilst reading the first part of the book some archetypes resonated clearly with me, whilst others not so much. Interestingly, these were also the archetypes that were identified by the assessment that Soukup’s team have developed to help people identify their fears. The part of the book that really struck me was a debunking of the myth of balance. We often feel that it is important to pay equal attention to all parts of our life, especially working mothers. In the world of a research scientist (and I am sure many others) there are two camps: one which glorifies work and the other which aims to...

Andreea Mirica: As a coach looking to learn more, know more, be better suited to help, but also as a person deeply engaged in developing self-awareness: This book is a treat! It's such an optimistic, easy read. That's not to say it's not also going deep...
When something rings true to you, stop and reflect - Ruth herself encourages readers to trust their instinct and use their common sense. As opposed to taking something somebody else says as 'gospel truth'.
This book encourages you to say 'this is what I want to do', find your 'why' and take the leap!
