HeatherHeather: After setting up the bassinet, one of the first things I noticed was that the "mattress" that came with it didn't seem to fit very snug and buckled really easily due to how thin and flimsy it is. So I began searching for a different mattress and stumbled across this one. Fisher Price says their mattress dimensions are 15x30, but I really wanted to make sure it fit nice and snug so based off of another helpful review, I sized up and ordered the 16x31. And I'm so glad I did! It fits absolutely perfectly, and the waterproof pads and sheets I had already purchased according to the old dimensions fit just fine on this one, too. 100% better than the original mattress!

Baby isn't due for another couple of weeks so I can't speak for the longevity yet, but just based off of the fit and firmness I already believe this is a (necessary) upgrade if you have the same bassinet.

*UPDATE*

This mattress held up perfectly for baby's first few months of life. Can't recommend enough!

Amy GrellAmy Grell: I bought my bassinet second hand & it did not come with a mattress. Pottery Barn advertises the Bristol Bassinet mattress size as 16 inches wide by 31 inches long by 1 inch thick, and this mattress ended up being a safe fit for the Bristol Bassinet. I can’t comment on the waterproof feature or ease of cleaning because I haven’t had the opportunity to use it yet. I personally still covered the mattress with a waterproof mattress protector, just as an extra precaution, and I decided to do that before I even saw the mattress. All in all, I’m satisfied with how the mattress was delivered, its soft yet firm feel, and its price.

Cee: Okay so, I'm using it as a changing table pad. The changing pads I have used prior have all ripped and didn't last long. I came across this mattress and decided to give it a try. It works perfectly! It fit right on my childs changing table. It's very easy to clean and water resident. My daughter doesn't seem to mind laying down on it. I can't speak for the mattress part for sleeping but feels soft and sturdy.

LNY: UPDATE: The seller responded to me quickly and sent out a new mattress. The mattress was odor free! No chemical smell, no need to air it out. The new mattress is a little less firm than the original received but still firm enough.

Original review: I purchased the 16x31x2 to replace our old pad in a Fisher Price Soothing Motion Bassinet. I really want to love this item. It fits perfectly with no gaps, no bunching, and no curved edges. It’s firm, which is what we wanted for a newborn, and all the bassinet sheets we have fit well. The only reason why I couldn’t give it 5 stars is because there is this awful chemical smell I couldn’t get rid of. I aired it out for a few WEEKS before using it, wiped it down with vinegar, aired it out again, and eventually gave up because I needed to use it and couldn’t find another. I took an additional star off because my kid smells like the mattress, as does his clothes and sheets, every time he sleeps in it, which is all the time. I reached out to the seller to see if there’s a solution of some sort and am waiting to hear back.
