Organic Red Cayenne Pepper Ground by Spice Hunter - 1.5 Ounce Jar

Eric R Snow: I have been buying this particular poultry seasoning for years now. I like the stuff so much I have bought jars for all my family members, who also all happen to cook, just because it is so good. Tonight I made chicken noodle soup and used the Spice Hunter Poultry Seasoning in the soup. This stuff is also great for other things, like making gravy. When I make sausage gravy for biscuits and gravy I use this seasoning. It is perfect for this. And when making a cream gravy for fried chicken I always use this spice blend, it's a must. I'm kinda serious about making good food. For example, I grind all my own meats, and I make all my own sausage and sausages. This spice blend truly deserves the 5 star rating I gave it.

Rebecca: We don't use a ton of nutmeg, but when we do, we want it to taste and smell fantastic. So I bought a grater and a jar of Spice Hunger whole nutmegs. We use it for lots of baking in the fall and winter, and last year I made Alton Brown's aged eggnog. The nutmeg tasted fantastic in the eggnog...mixed in, and sprinkled on just before drinking.

So I had about 1/2 of a pod left, and thought, "shoot, better get some more before the baking season really takes off." Popped on Amazon--forgetting when and where I bought my last bottle--and proceeded to look for the best deal. I found this listing, clicked on it, and saw this notification at the top:

"You last purchased this in November, 2014."

Wowza. Ok, five years old and still going (smelling) strong? I bought another jar, but still kept using my 1/2 pod leftover from 2014.

When the new jar arrived, I grated some just to compare. Folks, it smelled and tasted exactly the same: perfectly fresh, fragrant, perfect, and just waiting to be added to the litany of pumpkin spice goodies that we love for just a few months at a time. (Along with eggnog...and how!)

$7 seems like a lot to spend on a jar of spice, but...
