Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer: UPDATE: Using nutrients 48 hours after sowing (instead of 72 hours) is producing larger microgreens than shown in the old photos about 1 day sooner. For the 1st day of feeding, I dilute the nutrient solution by 25%.
Everything I used to grow these is reusable (except for seeds and nutrient solution).
Photos are at 7.5 days using 9-10 grams of this seed mix. Updated recipe shown below produced better results than the photos (about 1 day faster for the same size).
Photo shows a silicone mesh (dehydrator mat) inside a sprouting tray. A TDS meter and pH meter are also shown.
For these seeds, I use a nutrient solution with 6.0 pH and 9-12 nutrients, providing 50-70 ppm of nitrogen. For 70 ppm of nitrogen, I use:
1893 grams (147 ppm) water (8 cups of 9.5 pH water)
2.70 grams (+700 ppm) MaxiGro 10-5-14 (this amount made 9.5 pH drop to 6.0 pH)
0.36 grams (+60 ppm) Epsom salt (95 ppm total because MaxiGro provides ~35 ppm per 700 ppm)
If the pH isn't near 6.0, you can use citric acid to lower pH, or potassium carbonate to raise it. I dilute the 70 ppm nitrogen solution by 25% (to 52.5 ppm) for the first day of feeding.
