Linda S: I first read Ordinary Grace in 2015. I just finished reading it again (2023) and loved it even more than I did in 2015. It's such a beautiful and moving story. After my second reading, I realized where the title of the story came from. This book definitely deserve the best rating.

skalamar: This book was like love. My deep affection for what it offered swelled as I progressed through the pages. It forced me to reflect on my own life without actually requiring it. It was a well told story with its share of surprises and ordinary moments triggering gasps, laughter and tears.

SKF: I enjoy reading Krueger’s books, where he develops such interesting characters, communities, and relationships. His depiction of small town life and values is spot on! He had me fooled as to the killer for most of the book.

Daniel Doyle: Read in pretty much one sitting. The words and descriptions flow like the river that is so much a part of this book.

S. Penrose: What a touching look at loss, faith, and family. William Kent Krueger tells a different kind of mystery as a family, even an entire town, deal with multiple deaths in 1961 Minnesota. The Drumm family are a godly family, as patriarch, Nathan is the town pastor, and his wife and three kids are a huge part of the town and church. The family is wrecked by a stunning loss as our 13 year old narrator, Frank comes of age. The book isn't the typical mystery but its done really well. There is obvious religious themes and that's not my thing but it also made sense for who the book was about. The whodunit was pretty obvious but it was a satisfying ending. Overall, a beautifully written book that handles grief amazingly well.

Anthea Bell: A thought provoking book. There is much to ponder on and William Kent Krueger draws us in and we get to know many interesting characters. You really feel you know the people with all their blemishes and imperfections. Very philosophical at times.

Robert Willis: I won't detail the plot of this story, as others have already done so. To be fair, I debated between rating this story a 3 or a 4 star. Ultimately, I've rated it a 4 because at the end of the day, it was a well-constructed story that captured my attention. My 3-star rating was related to my expectations. After reading other reviews that compared this story to "To Kill a Mockingbird," or otherwise spoke to its deep and timeless messages, I had high hopes for this book. And, whilst there were important and timeless messages about coming of age, communities and families and both their biases and their ability to transcend these biases, the style of the story-telling at times got in the way of these messages. It, at times, read too much (to me) like a rather obvious who-dun-it story. This is of course not surprising, given that the author is normally a crime writer. For me, however, it felt a bit formulaic at times. Also, much of the content of the story was learned second hand. Somehow, conveniently, the characters could always overhear other characters, through the heating/cooling vent systems in the main character's house (but somehow, the parents seemed oblivious to this feature...
