MechuMechu: This is our first introduction to French nursery rhymes. We love the repetition. The audio repeats. I’m researching some more audiobooks by the same author, hoping for the same experience.

Samah Y: The content is brilliant. Really sweet book, just wish it came in a board book format for younger kids. :(

Rachel: I bought this as the first french book for my kid. And he likes to follow the cd playlist and sing along with that. The book is good quality and enough content for a young kid. I’ glad that my kid like this.

Lectrice anglaise: A gift for my granddaughter. As a native French speaker and a teacher of French, I was looking for an entertaining book with a cd so that she and her parents could listen to the songs and repeat correctly. The book itself has lots of extra words in context and the cd covers many favorite French nursery rhymes. Excellent and good value for money.

Amazon Customer: I am of French descent and ordered this book for my grandchildren, twin boys. The book is simple to follow and with practice I am sure they will become more proficient at pronounciation with the assistance of their mother.

Gav: I live in France and speak English at home. It certainly helped my two young children to access French. It is true that not all the rhymes are common ones, but what joy they have when one of the rhymes does crop up at school and they already know it. Having a book with pictures to illustrate the vocab is very helpful to their comprehension. If you just have it on as background music you'll be surprised how much they pick up. I've learnt from it too. It's all about exposure.

R. Temple: I have only one child so far and I try to speak only French to him during the day. Sometimes it's hard to think of things to talk about, especially since he's only 8 months old and can't talk back! So, we listen to this CD of songs and rhymes and it's fun to sing along with them for the baby. Once I turn it on, he perks up and smiles. I can bounce him on my knees while we listen. Although it is only audio, it keeps him entertained for longer than any kids show we've watched so far. Then, even when we're not home, I can sing him the songs or chant the rhymes. They're easy to learn and memorize. I also like how the songs cover lots of types of animals, numbers, days of the week and some letters. I'm really glad I bought it!

John Colman: I notice that this product got mixed reviews.
Our family enjoyed it for what it is - but it's not exactly what we expected either.
The songs are real French songs which children sing - many are playground rhymes similar to "eeny-meeny-miny-mo" and don't necessarily form the best introduction to French for your child. But it does what it says on the tin and it WILL (after repeated listening) improve your french if not your child's.
For something more didactic try "Le Club Francais - KS2-French-Part 1" which has songs such as "Bonjour! Salut! Ca va!" and some traditional rhymes.
I almost forgot: The book is nicely illustrated and separated into logical sections. The CD is clearly spoken and the first track gives a sort of explanation of the content.

M. J. Kohler: As a preschool French teacher at a Montessori school, I am always looking for good products to recommend to parents for at-home enrichment. What makes this book/CD set so special is the exceptional quality and beauty of the speaking and the fact that it is unique.
There are many CDs with French songs, but few for young children on the American market, where French is spoken. The poems, rhymes, counting-out rhymes, beautiful pictures and special "settings" are extremely appealing to young children and have a classic quality. This book is excellent for guided learning --- exploring French with your child or a small group of children. Act out the rhymes or otherwise bring them to life with puppets, drawing, counting, pictures, fingerplays, or any type of game. Then pull words out to say and learn.
These are not just spoken rhymes, they lend themselves to interactive play very well! Don't just put it in the car stereo and expect your child to be entranced until they understand what some of it means. After they do, young children's imaginations are captured by the silliness of the nursery rhymes. Nursery rhymes, with their rhythm and exaggeration & repetition of...
