Deb M.: This blood pressure monitor is what I wanted. It is easy to use and seems to work very well. More than one person can keep their readings on it, but we just use it to check our blood pressure on occasion. The batteries were easy to replace (we have had this awhile). I have no complaints. It does pump the cuff up to get those with higher blood pressure, so it gives the arm a good squeeze, but it starts lowering at a good rate. It also gets the low blood pressure readings. I recommend this item.

First time I used it, my blood pressure was elevated. So much so, that after recording it twice a day for a week, I was then started on medicine to bring my blood pressure down. I had no idea it was elevated until I bought this machine.
Just as well I did! I'm 62.

Amazon Customer: A relative of mine is having Blood Pressure concerns. I thought I would purchase him a BP machine to allow him to monitor whilst at home. So I found this Omron BP Machine, thought the reviews and price were ok. I am familiar with the Omron machine as we use them at work (NHS) My money was taken from my account straight away and I went on to wait 2.5 weeks for delivery. I had arrange for the BP machine to be delivered to my family members address, due to having to self isolate. He informed me that he had received a card through the door demanding £12.42 for the machine to be delivered to him!! I am so cross as nothing relating to this is stated on the website, therefore misinformed in its selling/advertising.
The Bp machine is fine. Very disappointed that you not informed about the delivery charge..

bluefoyle: I am a little annoyed with the advertising of this item.
I have been forced to pay an extra £12 to receive this order comprising of £4.00 import duty and £8.0 post office handling charge.
None of these extra charges were explained on the advertising nor were there any indications that the unit was being dispatched directly from Germany and I feel this is unfair advertising and a warning should have been included.
With what I ended up being charged I may well have gone to Boots and purchased the Item.

Kathleen San Martino: For the past several years I have been under a lot of work stress and my blood pressure has been fluctuating wildly and periodically. I kept saying to my boyfriend how I feel like I am going to have a heart attack or stroke because of all the stress. Unfortunately, after dinner with a friend a few days ago, I got up from my chair and felt very dizzy. I did not say anything to her until a day later. She said I probably had a blood pressure problem and suggested I order the Omron because that was what her doctor recommended.

I decided to do some research and looked at the reviews for several different manufacturers' BP monitors. I kept coming back to this Omron 5. To me this is the best value for the money.

It did take some time to get use to and I read the manual several times. I also watched a couple of YouTube videos to get a general idea of the placement. (I put a link to the videos in the comments section of my review.)

After inserting the four AA batteries supplied, I set the date and time. This is important for those historical readings as I need to bring this to the doctor to show my BP values over time.

There are a few important things to look for in an automatic BP monitor. First and foremost, it must be accurate. An inaccurate BP monitor is not just worthless, it's dangerous. Second, the cuff needs to be the correct size for your arm (this is part of accuracy). Even the most expensive BP monitor will give inaccurate readings if the cuff is too large or small for your arm. Finally, it should be easy to use, even without assistance. If checking your BP is a cumbersome process or one that always requires another person's help, you won't do it as often.

The 5 Series BP monitor by Omron hits all of these requirements:
1) It is accurate, and better still, its readings are reproducible. I verified this by comparing the Omron's readings with blood pressures I took manually.
