TheNightbirdTucson: Full disclosure, I purchased one of these at one of those chain pet stores, not saying if it was “co” or “smart”…. I have an average sized cat with long fur and feathers. The first one I purchased was probably the smaller version, easy to assemble, easy to use BUT just too darned small for my sized cat…. maybe for a short haired cat, maybe, but for my longer haired bad boy (who is NOT a fatty), no, it just wasn’t a good fit, for a number of reasons.

I purchased this larger one thru Amazon, interestingly enough, ended up being the same price…. simple to assemble, clever design, really easy to use, clean, simple. It’s kind of vague with regards to what litter works best, which litters are better, so, here’s what I have found….

Researching on line, using the smaller box, I kept hearing about using “the best” cat litter…. It worked well for a few days, but then it started to smell of cat pee and cornflakes. I did “the roll” daily, and it kept the odor down, but, in the end, it was just too darned expensive and not that great. I tried “regular” clay litters…. some worked well, some didn’t…. the clumping litters worked well for...

Once set up, all that's required is a daily roll and a monthly top up. HonestlyVala: It works mostly. Just like EVERYONE is saying, the plastic is super flimsy. So are the clips. It hasn't broken yet, but I imagine it's going to break before I change the box (I buy a new box every few years). As far as ease of use, you literally just roll it and it deposit the prezzies in the little scooper. I've noticed that the clumps are too big for the scoop sometimes, which makes a mess pulling it out because it scrapes on the opening. Gross lol. The area available for your cats to use isn't exactly massive either. Half of the box is the sifting system, so even though I bought the bigger size deliberately because I've got a fatty kitty she's definitely a lil smooshed in there. One cat is about 10lbs and slim, my fatty is 13 but she's a Siamese and is only supposed to be like 8lbs so she's quite. . . Round lol. Both use the box though. My fluffy cat also has this awesome habit of using the same exact spot in the litter box to urinate, which super saturates the litter in that spot and the clump winds up super glued to the back corner up against the grate. Soooo I have to go in and break it up with a scooper but what that means is the grate gets dirty too and it's a b and a half...
