J.G.: I’ve loved collecting and using small pocket knives since 1956 when I turned ten. I’m well familiar with all brands both imported and US made. Boker, Case, Buck, RoughRyder, Schrade,
Spyderco, GEC, Bear and Son Gerber, to name a few. They all have their quality control issues. Steels vary, fit and finishes vary. I’ve seen some surprisingly disappointing knives from time to time from all of them. But for the most part all have worked out well for me and I’ve enjoyed using them. I currently happen to have in my collection six Chinese Made Uncle Henry knives including two of these little Mighty Mites. The fit and finish on all of them is fine. I’ve used one Mighty Mite the most for 6 months. Carrying it in my pocket and using it in the garage, garden, workshop, and just around the house. It works great. The Chinese steel works, is easy to sharpen, and stays sharp as well as any US Schrade knives, Case or Buck knives I own and have used in similar ways. If you’re a “normal” person who takes care of your stuff, isn’t a steel snob and doesn’t abuse your knives, and who likes to carry a small but useful knife in your pocket or purse to meet...

George MartinezGeorge Martinez: I just picked up this little pocket knife today, so this review won't be for function or durability, that will come in time. I'm reviewing this knife off of first impressions only.
I was pretty excited for this Mighty Mite after reading some reviews and watching the small handful that are on YouTube. But when I received it, I was less than impressed. The knife was lack luster at its best. The knife was slathered in, what I'm assuming was grease, the bolsters and lock liner were showing oxidation, the OT badge was barely visible because of the grease and it was near impossible to open the knife using my finger nail. So my excitement turned to disappointment and threw it to the side and went along with my day.
But later, I was determined to see if I could clean the knife up and make it look any better. Using a lite degreaser, Mothers wax, some Q Tips and a microfiber cloth, I cleaned that little sucker up and my excitement is back. Aesthetically, I love the way it now looks.
The pics show the centering is not bad at all, actually pretty good for this price knife. When you're finally able to open it, it locks up TIGHT. There is no side to...

mbj: This is a reasonably well made single blade liner-lock variation of the classic small penknife design. It's main selling points are the locking feature and the price.

The Schrade 180T Mighty Mite is a 2 3/4" closed, single lock-blade version of a classic small penknife design that usually incorporates 2 slip-joint (non-lockblade) blades. (The Schrade 104OT Minuteman appears to be that 2-blade slip-joint sister knife. The 120T Pal appears to be a single-blade slip-joint equivalent.) The liner-lock locking mechanism takes up the space that would have been allocated to the smaller pen blade. That lockblade feature makes this knife unique. I haven't seen any other brand marketing a thin penknife lockblade of this design / style (though other small lockblades are certainly available).

Schrade Old Timer is a line of inexpensive classic design pocket knives of middle (decent enough) quality. I paid $10.29 for this one including prime shipping. So, I'm not going to complain that it's not machined as finely as a $30 - $60 knife or that it's made in China. If you pay three times this price, you will get a nicer knife.
