Okuma Longitude Surf Graphite Fishing Rods

Rob Remke: Solid rod for surf fishing. The only problem I have with it is the black foam that goes over the cork handle is splitting. But other than that, this rod has held up fighting two large red fish and a large stingray with no problems.

First review. The poll overall is very solid. Lightweight yet sturdy, you can tell the quality is there. The whole rod looks slick and very eye-catching. I have not fished with cork handles in over 25 years so, I can't say how will feel or not. Being lightweight it does feel great to hold. The CON is simple whoever is over-quality control, and order fulfillment goes back to training.

Amazon Customer: Absolutely worth the money in my opinion. I bought this rod for a beach trip during which I fished from the beach, casting directly from shore. I didn’t catch anything too large, so I can’t say how the rod would hold up against a heavy fish, but it got the job done with the fish I caught. The rod tip has plenty of give and is pretty sensitive, more so than I was expecting.
The rod was a lot heavier than expected, but I think that’s more because it’s a surf rod than anything. It’s definitely not too heavy for easy use, especially once you’re used to casting with it.
All in all, I’d recommend this to anyone who has never surf fished before and is looking for a good beginner rod. I’ll probably hang on to this one for a long time.

Ian Gray: I can't wait to haul a bunch of lunkers out of the lake with this new fishing pole. I bet Huck Finn would near die for one like this un here. Made of some fancy graphite stuff--stuff they use on Nascar car, bodies so ya know it'll take a brutal beating--I reckon this magic wand will not only pull in the 50 inchers, but also be right handy for a bar room brawl after pulling in some other guy's trophy.

J R: I bought this rod not to surf fish but to bank fish for muskies/pike. I wanted a rod to give me extra casting distance from the banks/shores of lakes, rivers, docks, and peers. I purchased the 12 ft version and paired it with a Shimano 8000 series spinning reel and I am more than happy with my casting results. It casts 1.5 oz baits out very nicely. I have landed a several 10 pound range pikes and it did great. The rod came in a stiff cardboard box that was about 6.5 feet long, wrapped in a plastic sleeve supported with a few of those air pocket thingamajiggers to keep it stable. I have an ugly stick in this size and very similar, but the rod end action is not stiff enough to set hooks for what im trying to do. I found this rod to be pretty stiff and excellent for working bucktails.
