Derek&Rebecca: These claws are plastic, lightweight, and have a hollow back which requires a little more effort to clean. They did the job of shredding pork and beef very well. It sure beats using a couple of forks. The wide claws produce nice wide shreds as forks shred meat kind of fine. Very useful tool!

TNDealFinder: Not a necessity but it does make shredding pork bbq a little easier and it is fun to use. These are slightly cheaper than the "name brand" and you get what you pay for. I'd say these don't seem as sharp or feel as solid as the name brand. The backing is hollow. This is all fine though, they still work well enough. If anything I would go with a pair of metal ones rather than go to the "name brand". I'll be keeping these and using these though, I'm happy with them and the money savings.
