Office Chair Mat for Carpet and Hardwood Floors by Placoot

Barry: I work in an office with terrible low pile carpet. So I bought this mat. I was skeptical when it arrived as it seemed so light and thin for a mat. It folded out in flat sections vs others that are rolled, which was great as there is no chance of it rolling up. My chair rolls across it easily and so far I like it. I roll back and forth between desk for my job so I'll update the durability at a later date. yet so far I'd buy another.

William A. Green: This mat was very easy to handle and install. It looks very good, (I got the dark blue color). It handles my office chair wheels without forming dents after even a full day of using it. (This is on a somewhat flexible surface.) It is MUCH better at staying in place than my previous PVC mat as well. I haven't had this long enough to comment on durability, but It looks and feels great so far. I strongly recommend this mat.

T. Lee: We've been trying to get something to allow our chair to roll properly on carpet for a long time. I never liked the plastic types ever since I cut my toes on the edge of one. I tried to replace the casters with bigger wheels and those don't work so well either - for some reason, while big wheels can roll smoothly once it starts moving, can't turn/change direction smoothly.

This mat is wonderful. Big wheels still don't change direction smoothly, so I changed back to the original casters and wow, the chair just rolls on this mat just as it would on hardwood floor.

Let's just hope the backing material doesn't disintegrate like some bathroom mats do. :)

StaceyStacey: Two chair mats; same color for both. Overall, we are happy with our purchase. Only negative is that it doesn't stay in place very well on carpet. In the first pic (where the chair is turned), the chair mat was initially put down to hit the black bar base of my floor lamp. As you can see, it has moved at least 6" away from that bar. Not necessarily a big deal, just need to move it back. Alternative: keep the old, traditional plastic one with the "teeth" underneath, but then over time, that one is subjected to crack, so?
The other chair mat was purchased with the intention to protect the area rug (beneath) from "buckling" when the desk chair hit the edge of the rug. This mat is serving its purpose, but may shift a little too.
As far as durability - it's great! No issues. Vacuums up nicely as well.

Amazon Customer: It came in a large flat box that it was tri-folded into. It was stiffer and more heavy-duty feeling than I expected. It has a black border that appears glued down and not seamed. It lays perfectly flat with no wrinkles, just a slight rubber smell which took a few days to fade. I have an old 60's era steel rolling desk chair and so far the mat is holding up very well except for the worn, old casters making skid marks on it, but I do not fault the mat for that. So far I am very happy with this purchase. I have not rated durability as of yet because I have not had it that long.
