Bilgediver: I'm not "technically" a beginner, but I'm so far removed from mixing I might as well be. Back in college (early 2000's) I bought a used set of technics turntables and a vestax 2 channel mixer and got into Trancecore/freeform in its early stages of existing. I didn't DJ professionally at all I just enjoyed the mixing aspect of music. I probably shouldn't have bought it I just treated it as a hobby. As a hobby it was quite expensive.

I just now decided to get back into mixing as a hobby and went for one of the cheaper options. This is my first foray into MIDI controllers for computers and so far I'm enjoying it. I tried all the pure software options and it left me wishing for hardware, which I now have due to purchasing the Numark Partymix. Reading the other reviews about Virtual DJ it left me curious because when I purchased it came with "Serato Lite", which I tried for a bit but I don't really like it due to the lack of available setup options (audio, etc...).

I purchased the home license of Virtual DJ because it matches the Numark controller perfectly. After one evening session I am really enjoying it, just gotta get the hang of exactly how I want to route the Audio...

nikj: A really simple and easy to use DJ interface.

Ok there are bigger and better on the market, I know I've had and used them, this unit has a lot of the functionality at a fraction of the cost and size.

Plus points

Compact size

Inbuilt sound card

Programmable pads for cue points/samples/effects that can be assigned and swapped at the touch of a button

Comes with Virtual DJ, the easiest solution for broadcasting or streaming ( video and karaoke also work directly in the software) without the need for external recorders or broadcasters

Quick and easy plug and play and easy to set up (only limited by your computer, i5 or above recommended for streaming or full HD video, but that's software not hardware)

Light, robust, portable

Downsides

No Mic input (not a real issue as there are plenty of great USB mics available and you have just saved a couple of hundred quid buying this so you could buy a semi decent Shure or Röde and still take the other half out to dinner)

It does look and feel a bit cheap and plasticy and that's because it is cheap and plasticy, but if it's about performance and not asstetics this does...

DanDan: The media could not be loaded.  Before I opened the box , it was very light and came in big box surrounded it, excited and keen to try my new DJ controller

I did have a numark 2 channel mixer before and trusted the confidence in the technology
Numark has come a long way since 20 ago

I opened it up and checked through everything and numark has certainly packaged it well,

What you get , instructions a mixer and usb connection which just makes it plug and play

Great for beginners who just wanna start out, get quickly set up. As it headache to learn and if don’t know what you’re doing,

for I been DJ ing and producing music and singing for 30 years and I use this to connect it to my virtual DJ software, which I downloaded first, I suggest getting DJ controller which basically syncs to the Virtual DJ software you got to honest I only have used Virtual DJ as it does everything you want

I’m very pleased with it so far.. I used some of the drum pads and audio samples that already came with .. once you mastered beat matching you add samples and loops which gives a little extra effect to your mixes

FranciscoFrancisco: Soy Dj y tengo una mesa muy superior a esta pero necesitaba una urgente y barata por que la mia estropeó, la verdad me he quedado sorprendido por que la necesito para salir del paso, pero después de trastear con ella va perfectísima, registras la mesa en numark descargas el virtual con el número de serie, enchufas la mesa y como va preconfigurada a funcionar no necesitas mapear, tamaño contenido pero ideal ya que en las cabinas siempre andas justo de espacio con el pc y otros aparatos, y para transportarla súper cómoda, las luces de la mesa las puedes apagar si quieres, y en cuanto a funcionalidad y calidad me encanta, sobretodo la recomiendo como mesa escuela es brutal, y en fin tiene todo lo necesario

Danger: I really love this controller, a lot of people complain about the buttons but I think the responsiveness of the click is perfect, I never over- or under-press and the the timing of my actions never gets screwed up. I like the particular variety of the buttons, the selection and the layout and everything, everything is really accessible, etc etc, the soundcard is great, the controller itself is really light and it's awesome that it uses a simple USB connection, simple headphone jack, yadda yadda, all in all I have only glowing things to say about the controller itself.

The software, and how the controller is made to interact with the software, is where the problems come in. The software is marketed like it "comes with" the controller, which is technically true, but after about a month you're told that actually, you only have a demo license and you'll have to pay at least $50 more to keep using the software with the controller. You may be thinking, why not just use the controller with any other software you already have? Here's the kicker: if you use the controller with any other DJ software, such as Mixxx or Traktor, the button lights are extremely dull and difficult to...
