Patrick T: In the past I have purchased this product locally in the smaller 7oz container. I thought the 1lb container would be a good buy. The problem with the product I received was that it was gritty, almost like there was sand in it.

I think the jar I received was either manufactured poorly or it was not stored properly at the warehouse. What ever the cause, the shea butter was useless. In order to make it usable, my wife heated it up and when it was liquid she strained it through a fine mesh strainer.

I won’t be buying this from Amazon anymore. I’m going back to the smaller jar at the local store.

Update: changed my rating to 1 star. This stuff was so grainy it was unusable. Tossed it in the trash.

New Update!!! Stupid Me! Just read the fine print and it says to put the jar into warm water to dissolve particles if the product is grainy. I did and the grainy texture smoothed out. Now it’s great.

Goldfox80: When I received this Shea butter it was all chunky and almost impossible to spread on my skin. So I watched a few you tube DIY videos on making my own body butter. I melted the Shea to a liquid oil over a pot on top of a cooking pot with water in it bc I do not have a double boiler. I refrigerated it for an hour or so. I kept checking it so that it began looking cloudy and creamy, no longer liquidy. Then I started mixing it with my hand beater. It got fluffy and looked like egg whites. I could have gotten it more fluffy if I had added a teaspoon or so of cornstarch. I put it back into the jar it came in, refrigerated over night. It became a firm but beautifully easy to spread on my skin cream. It is wonderful now. It is a tad greasy but it definitely melts into the skin if rubbed firmly. No odor and its white Shea butter. Next time I will blend it with mango butter so it takes away the greasy feel and it would be more buttery melt into the skin cream. Watch a you tuber on making the perfect blend to your desire of creamy body butter.
