TheDouBleB223: We used ours for our most recent vacation. 13hour drive there and back. It held up amazingly. I did buy two more ratchet straps just to be safe. Also might want to bring your tools along, you'll need them if you want to run the rack in the upright position. Otherwise this was a great purchase.

Hailey Desborough: This has been unavailable for a few months. I waited because I wanted this specific carrier (with all of these accessories). When it finally came back in stock I ordered and it did not disappoint! We have gone on several short trips with this carrier and it has been a life saver! Would definitely recommend this!!!

Elisa Armstrong: Was fairly simple to put together but the tools they sent were very simple and not great quality, so best to use your own. I'm giving it a 3 for now cause I am missing a piece I received 2 rachets but only one strap rendering one useless. If or when this gets rectified and it works well for what i wanted it for I will change to a 4 as I still didn't like the tools.

D. Carter: We used this for a 2 1/2 month trip across the country. The metal carrier itself was & is great, very sturdy. However the cargo bag leaked, with both rain & dirt getting in. You could see that the seams were not properly melted together & an attempt was made to correct it. It was good that we weren't storing bedding or clothing in the bag. The velcro strips that were to keep the flap over the zipper down came unglued one by one. So we one by one crazy-glued the velcro straps until all were reconnected to the "fabric".
When we went back to Amazon, we were sent back to the manufacturer, Nevler. They couldn't ship a new bag to Canada, so reimbursed an amount back through Amazon Canada, so that we could buy another replacement bag. That process was handled very quickly. Here's hoping a bag from another manufacturer works better.

MM: Ok - So. Full Transparency. I didn't receive any compensation for this review, nor am I an expert. These are my own meandering thoughts and opinions based on my experience with this product. Take them for what they are worth. This is kind of a long read. I tried to do little headings so you can skip around to what you need.

Pros: Construction
Cons: The bundle, some functionality and the price

Context: We took this on a 6 hour cross state trip where we encountered rain on multiple days and varying degrees of intensity. We were on town roads and highways. Speed ranged from 25 mph to 80 mph while loaded and not loaded.

Expectation: This is a $249 dollar purchase. I'm not expecting something that I can transport industrial equipment on regardless of the stated weight tolerance. That is not the intended purpose of this item. Its for weekend warrior and family types who need some extra room to carry a small amount of stuff. That said, I'm 200 lbs and I had about 100 lbs of stuff on it and it held up very well to me jumping on it.

Shertex: Overall this is a great product. We used it on a Subaru Ascent during a drive from coast-to-coast across the US and it performed as well as expected.

Pros: This is a very sturdy hitch mounted carrier. It allowed plenty of space for the rear hatch door on the Ascent to open even with the carrier attached and full of cargo; of course only with the carrier in the down position. It was perfect for carrying two oversized suit cases which fit exactly within the space of the carrier. There was also enough extra room for a gallon gas can and several other loose mid-sized items. Overall we carried about 250-300 lbs on the rack and it held up well and did not bend or drag near the pavement as some carriers have been seen to do. When in the folded up position the carrier was far away enough from the car that it did not risk bouncing against the back hatch of the vehicle. We also used the included black water-resistant bag and load straps which both worked extremely well; we encountered almost no rain so cannot comment on the ability of the bag to protect against water.
