Liv McCoin: I love this book, I have an older edition that was ruined on a road trip, and this edition is just as helpful.

Dylan and Stefani: Got this guide as a more simple, elderly friendly guide for my grandparents. They have bird feeders and love to watch the birds but never know what they are. They said this was very easy to read and well organized compared to the more thorough (and much smaller writing) Audubon guide. Also it’s region specific so they only have the species they may actually see. They love it and I’m happy they’re excited to learn something new!

Dale : I bought this book for my husband who has become an avid birdwatcher. The books we had were for all of North America. This shows us the birds Of the East Coast and how they migrate. The book is full of information, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to identify local birds.

Dan: When I go Birding, I always take a few books with me. This is one of them. I use this book primarily for cross reference, but use my Sibley's or Peterson's for initial identification. I like the detail of these paintings for some purposes. I find Sibley's paintings a bit more muted and less detailed...but more like what I bird looks like in real life when you see it quickly. My biggest complaint is that it is difficult to compare the Sparrows and Warblers. I wish there was a plate showing several species together. One way I remedies this was to cut the sparrow page out of a Golden Guides and stick it in this book. If I go for a short jaunt and only want to take one book with me, I prefer the Peterson's or Sibley's.

C. A. MartinC. A. Martin: I borrowed the guide to western birds from my local library all summer long. Now I have my own & the eastern guide too. Love these for their beautiful artwork, field marks & range maps. Nice price too.

Heather: There are bird silhouettes inside the covers to make ID fast and easy (if such a thing is possible). Details enough to ID the most localized bird, such as the Maritime Juvenile male woodpecker I saw. He matched no pictures, but by George, the word description of him was there in perfect detail.

But I cannot find a particular bird that is everywhere in Orlando, try as I might. Probably not this book's fault!! It is a most thorough book. Sometimes i think I have an ID but then realize that pictures of a bird only in an area far from me, and have got to start again. I have no idea how one can work around this. Again, not the book's fault. Favourite bird book so far.

NDB: Awesome book! The format of the book is very enjoyable, easy enough to carry, the drawings are very well made, and i could easily use it to identify all the birds I was looking at. I recommend it strongly to all bird lovers.
