Thinking the best part of it was the cover over the buttons to protect it but if there is anytime in between weighing you have to turn it back on. Which means taking your gloves off so you don’t soil the buttons. The scale works well. Just would like there to be more time in between weighing items

Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer: I use this scale for soap making. It's a super popular scale in the soap making community and was always the recommended choice. I like that it's elevated so that the weighing surface is 4 inches from the table the scale is sitting on. I'm able to place my large crockpot directly on the scale to weigh oils and the elevation allows me to still read and operate the scale. On shorter scales, my weighing container would block the scale's screen if the container was too big. As a general scale this one is good, especially at this lower price ($36.62) since I've seen it for double in other places.
However, I've come across a few issues that might be specific to soap making.
1. This scale only measures in 0.05oz increments which compromises the overall accuracy of the ounce measurements. For measuring oils, I don't mind rounding up a bit, but for measuring the sodium hydroxide for the lye water I NEED accurate measurements for safety. Because of this, I ended up buying a second, much more accurate scale. I also switched to using grams only on this scale for my best chances of getting accurate measurements. -- I did test the accuracy with calibration weights. My weight set...

Bakerboy: I bought these scales to replace my kitchen scales. I bake a lot from bread, cakes & sweets and needed an accurate set of scales. it's the first time I have had scales that are as close to professional scales as you can get at this price, once calibrated I have found them to be very good, much better than the usual digital kitchen scale that seem to have a casm of variancy. they have a good range of choice when it comes to imperial and metric, I tend to use both. they are quick easy and are not for ever switching them selves off after a few seconds. they also have a handy cover over the screen and buttons, helps to keep them clean and prevent accidents the scale plate is a good size and I can get my Kenwood Major bowl easily on the scale plate and unlike some scales it accurately wheighs where every you put the thing you are weighing on the scale plate. These scales are not really suitable for professional kitchens as they are mainly plastic and are not IP60 rated, so not splash proof. Good idea to purchace the power pack for them as I think they would get through batteries quickly, all in all an excelent set of scales for a domestic kitchen.

H Baker: The My Weigh KD 7000 is our second favourite scale - after the KD 8000. The one we received is actually black, not silver, a slight but rather irrelevant misrepresentation. We aren't looking for colour co-ordinating, just a dependable digital scale which this and the KD 8000 both are.
As with the other style, this scale is dependable, uses three AA batteries that will last a long, long time even if using the lit display, can be adjusted (read the instructions) so the auto shut-off is set to 5 minutes which is lots of time to get your material ready. And if you have a proper calibration weight, can be re-calibrated. It gets down to 1 gram increments although like it's sister scale, the first few grams (from zero) aren't so precise. If you're looking for very low readings, it's best to also pick up a scale that does miniscule weights, like the AWS-600 which can give you more precise readings to the 10th of a gram and it has no issues measuring a bit of yeast at 4.7 grams, for example.

Candice P.: Overall, I'm very pleased with this scale. I purchased it for my son's 6th grade science fair experiment because we wanted accuracy in grams to two places. Units available on sciencekit.com began around $100. This one didn't break the bank and toggles easily between grams, kilograms, ounces, pound-ounces, and pounds. The cheap batteries were dead upon delivery, but put three Duracells in and the operation is far more professional and precise than I would expect for a $30 scale. I've had no problem getting it zeroed out and being able to get it to show the exact same weight for an item multiple times. --One thing to remember if you want to have any kind of scale to weigh more precisely (including bathroom scales) is to have all four feet/pegs on the bottom on a flat surface. If only three are making good contact, scales can indeed seem to fluctuate and appear to not give you a precise reading.
Size is perfect....small enough to store easily, and yet big enough (steel weighing surface is 7" x 7") to hold larger items without extra effort to stabilize them as you would need to do on a smaller surface. Purchased for a science experiment, but can already see that I will be able...
