Amazon Customer: Holocaust survival stories are my favorite genera to read. This book is riveting and by far the best one I have read yet. The way Aviva blends the perspectives of the 6 family members as they survive the holocaust is remarkable and keeps you reading well past your bedtime. I couldn’t put this book down and I’m sad I’m done reading. I hope one days she writes a continuation to this story. I’ll be one of the first to buy it.

Frieda: This tells the Schwsrtz family's story, told by each member of the family. I recommend this book to everyone, especially to our youth. Stories like this should be required reading so that the atrocities of the Nazis will NEVER be forgotten! This book is easier to read than other true family stories of this era I have recently read. It flows much smoother. However, I wish ebook editors would hire me as a proofreader!! There were some words, which to my mind, were really overused! For one example, "screamed", especially for the fact they were in such danger of being caught!! I wanted to scream after a while!

RN at LA: This true story of grit and heroism shows what the human heart is capable of when in the direst of situations love and determination prevail. This unassuming Jewish family lived through hell and came out stronger and better to be able to tell their horrific story to the world. We would all do well to listen and make sure nothing like this ever happens again. Some of the wording was awkward but still very readable.

If this is the author’s first book I can’t wait for more !! Aviva Gat is an inspirational writer who has written a book which should be made part of High School History Curriculum all over the World. neerja: My Family's Survival is the debut novel by Aviva Gat based on her family's survival from Nazis and holocaust. The book is from the perspective of five main characters David, his wife Hinda, their three children Sarah, Abi, Hossi and David's sister Rachel who is the grandmother of the author. The book follows their journey from their village Butla in Poland, where they are thrown out of their house by German soldiers till Romania, where they were living when second world war ended. The writing is gripping, and the flow is natural. You feel connected with the characters instantaneously and are drawn into their world. The emotions and the turmoil of the world our characters inhabit touches you to the core. You can feel their fear of death, which continually lurks in the background throughout their journey. The story curve is impressive, how each person fought their own battle of survival and emerged out of this ordeal as a stronger and a different person.

S M Boren: I purchased this book from Amazon to read. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 My Family's Survival by Aviva Gat. This Historical book was an amazing tale of survival during WWII. While everyone has heard stories of the Jews of Germany and the horrors they survived there were so many more countries with so many more Jews that no one who didn't experience it would think it was unreal. This family not only survived, they stayed together. David and his wife Honda, their three children, Abi, Sarah, and Yossi, with David's sister Rachel managed to stay one step ahead of the Nazis. Beginning in a small village called Butla in Poland, through Hungary, and Romania they hold onto one another for strength and survival when the times get rough. This incredible true story is how the Schwartz family managed to survive and thrive during the war. It is a story of true luck and true faith in family.

Hannah Kompaniez: Wow. What a inspirational and compelling true story from a extremely dark period of time in the history of our human existance. I have read many holocaust survival stories, however this is about a family who evaded capture and had to use their survival instincts outside of a ghetto or concentration camp. Their story is still as upsetting, heart breaking and extremely testing. I loved that the author gave the perspective of each family member and you could really understand their undying love and protectiveness for each other - and of course their main intention, to survive, TOGETHER. Aviva Gat, the author, well done for sharing/telling your ancestors INCREDIBLE story of survival. Highly recommend this book, could not put it down!

lakelover: I am a 98 years young great-grandmother who will be 99 in 2 months. I finished college in 1942. I have read many, many books on the Holocaust. During the war, we in the United States did not know the extent nor the viciousness of what the Nazis and their collaborators forced upon the Jewish people. Lately, I have been disappointed to learn that even though the Holocaust happened only 80 years ago, many young students today know nothing about the history of events leading up to the Holocaust nor are they aware of how calculated, widespread, and committed the Nazis were to their goal of eradicating the Jewish people. For these reasons, I recommend this book especially to young people who are ignorant about how ordinary peoples' lives were affected by these events.
Most books tell the stories of people being forced into ghettos, going to the concentration camps, slaving under torturous conditions, and being sent to the gas chambers. This book gives us insight into those trying to hide and survive in small shtetls and towns, where finding food and safe shelter and living with fear and trepidation were ever-present realities.
This book captured and kept my interest so...
