Love this book. We are just about done with it and will be ordering the second one. I read this to my 7 year old and 5 year old as a “Bedtime” book. They read their own books on their own as daily assignments from school but toward the end of the night we cuddle and start settling into bedtime routine and we pop this book out and it cracks us up. We love it. Even my husband will laugh but probably more so at me as I try to give all the characters their own voices. Anywho who we enjoy it.

My reluctant 8-year old reader loves this series. Aside from the whole "moron" reference throughout the book (the big brother/evil scientist is CONSTANTLY referring to the main character as moron), this is an entertaining book. Kids find the antics very funny.
My daughter loved the Big Fat Zombie Goldfish - the chapters are short so we can read one or 2 chapters each night. There are ample pictures so she doesn't feel like these is drowning in text.
My daughter is a problem reader (I think she might be dyslexic) and I am thrilled anytime that I can find a book that she is interested in. Don't make the mistake of thinking that this is more "boy driven." Girls like this series equally as well as boys.

The idea behind this book is brilliant. A boy tries to save a goldfish's life and turns it into a zombie, complete with hypnotising powers. It's so easy to read, with short chapters that will leave you NEEDING to turn the page, and a beautiful voice that will make you laugh out loud.
"Finding Nemo meets Shaun of the Dead" is such a good hook, and it's so true.
My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish is like a Pixar movie made into a book, and it will be loved by kids and their parents alike.

After being told by my six year old that he doesn't like zombies, my reluctant little reader is loving this book. It is imaginative and fun and appeals to a first grader's sense of humor. My one concern is that I spend a lot of time trying to teach my child not to engage in name-calling and this book has a lot of it, starting with "MORON" that is littered all over the story. I don't think it adds to the story that much. I've chosen to take this as a teachable moment, but parents should be aware that it exists.

You get two different stories in the one book. They are full of adventure, fun, drama, humour and great characters. I am looking forward to giving a copies of this and The Sea-Quel (the sequel) to my friends children, as I know they will enjoy the read. They'll make great birthday presents for 7 to 8 year olds.
