Mueller Heavy-Duty Countertop Nugget Ice Maker Machine - Staunchest Design

MamaMess: I purchased this to replace an opal 1.0 that served me for about 2 years 10 months. While the classic look of opal is pretty, after years, no matter how much you try to get rid of hard water stains on the gray plastic and clear ice bin it is impossible.

Don’t get me wrong, I did like my opal but this machine seems much more user friendly and will likely be easier to keep clean.

I also like how the bin seems more insulated. We run ours all day, but this one seems to be quieter and also keeps the ice cold longer (less melting and recycling) so less running once it’s full.

I did see someone concerned about water flowing out to the bin when it first started and we did also have that experience. I think it’s just trying to get cold/freeze and after initial start up it rarely happens.

I would recommend trying this machine. It produces plenty of ice and I do feel since it insulates better it stays more “puffy/soft” and doesn’t get as hard as the opal ice when it was sitting in the machine!

Vickie Singer: This Mueller Nugget Ice Maker is the greatest! I had purchased a couple of 100-120 dollar ice makes, they broke down in less than a year, the ice melted inside the machine and was very wet whenever you went to scoop some. After the 2nd one broke down, I upgraded to the Mueller! It makes ice in smaller pellets, still substantial size, and it works like a charm. This comes with easy to clean instructions, you use household items, nothing special to buy. The ice melts slowly inside the machine. At night I fill up drink bottles with ice and turn the machine off. Then I unplug for the night, 7-8 hours later there is still ice available! Great to have on a kitchen counter, a boat/yacht, a picnic place that offers electricity. The extra money is worth the quality and dependability!

Susan V: I purchased this in September of 2022. Loved it at first. It was easy to use, and a nice little luxury since we never had an ice maker before. In November, I went to do the regular cleaning and noticed black stuff in the ice basket. It was not mold; it was something very greasy and would not wash off easily even with soap and water. I thoroughly cleaned the unit; the black stuff didn't reappear, but a puddle of water showed up under the unit, sometimes a lot, sometimes a little, but when the puddle dried it left behind a lot of white crystalline stuff. Since we used only reverse osmosis water in it, that shouldn't have been happening because the water doesn't contain a lot of minerals. I called the support line to see if they could help me diagnose the leak thinking maybe something just pulled loose when I was cleaning it. They first offered to just replace the unit stating it had a one year warranty, but sorry, they claimed to have none in stock with no idea when it would be back in stock. That's a red flag. Then they offered to send me one through Amazon, but claimed it was out of stock on Amazon. (It is not at this time). They then offered me a full refund, which I am currently...

Glen Stevens: Overall this is a very good ice maker. While this is the only "stand-alone" ice maker I have owned, I think that this machine lives up to what I would expect a quality ice maker should be. After the first 30 minutes of operation the nuggets fall fast and can easily keep up with the ice needs of 2-4 (or more) people. It is easy to fill with water to get started and the drain tubes on the back make it easy to prepare for storage when no longer needed.

The Good: This machine is quiet... a little hum from the compressor but the ice dropping is a quiet "tink" as the little "chewable" pellets (approx. 1/2 inch long and 1/4" round) drop into the basket. First ice takes about 15 minutes but drops a few pellets every few seconds after that. It takes about 30 minutes to get enough for a scoop of ice. A full basket takes about 3 hours but that is a lot of ice! While the ice is small and easily "chewable" it is well frozen and stays that way for a while in the basket. The ice basket area seems to be well insulated and the ice lasts fairly well when the machine is turned off (turned off over night the basket was still mostly full in the morning!)
