There is a very well written story of first contact. I have read science fiction for 60 years and the ideas and concepts presented in this story compare very favorable to the writing of the master Arthur C. Clarke. I will definitely be exploring Mr. Cawdron's other books.

I really enjoyed this book and I read it at pace because it is so good. It is thought-provoking and entertaining and gave me a different view on government disclosure. Excellently written and keeps the pace up all through.

I have read a great number of P, Cawdron's first contact books, his ability to look at things from a different perspective is so refreshing. I do enjoy his work in having us humans stretch our perceptions. This is a great series of books to read. Highly recommended.

Novela de SF de un autor independiente, quizás más orientada a un público adulto joven, con cierta intención de divulgación científica y humanista. Plantea las diferentes respuestas, científicas, políticas y sociales, q podrían darse ante la aparición de un fenómeno, la "Anomalía", que no puede proceder de nuestra civilización. Es un tema muy ambicioso, pero la lectura es entretenida. Está escrita en tiempo presente, elección poco habitual. El esfuerzo y la intención del autor, la historia, y el precio de menos de1 €, merecen su compra y lectura.

The story starts when an Anomaly appears out the front of the UN building in New York, a sphere, which at first appears to be rotating, so that anything that is not within the sphere is no longer attached to the Earth.
The result of course is worldwide panic, interest, military interference, and every country on Earth wanting a bit, and all sorts of Political intrigue.
The difference with this story is that it is told from the point of view of a simple, stand-up Science Teacher from a nearby school. David Teller is telling his class about the Anomaly and decides a field trip out might be worth it, so he organises to take his class. As a result of a series of events that start with a reporter looking for a bit of back story Cathy Jones, Teller suddenly finds himself talking with James Mason, the Director of National Security, and also a relative of Teller’s Students. The Student tells Mason about a theory that Teller has, that not only gets Masons interest, but also that of the entire NASA team, and suddenly Teller is thrust into the middle of this major ‘Military/Science’ project. Cathy gets caught up into the Maelstrom as well.

An alien bubble appears in New York, defying gravity and all of our known science. People fear what they don't understand. Riots and uprisings take place all over the world. Religious controversy erupts in full force. Teller, a grade school science teacher, and Cathy, a news reporter, are the main characters who try to understand this apparition. What is it? They become semi-prisoners of NASA and the military, who take control of the area, much to the anger of U.S. citizens and people from all over the world. Of course, the focus becomes military and people think the government is hiding yet another alien encounter. Teller forces the discussion back to pure science, and Cathy forces us to just think of the humanity of human life.
Teller and Cathy decide to go shopping at a toy store to get some materials to show the anomaly to try to give it an idea of how humans think and communicate. They wanted to show it how we experience the universe.

Nearly a year ago author Peter Cawdron took and dropped a gem on the indie book scene with Anomaly. The story of an under-achieving teacher who goes from field trip spectator in downtown NYC to over-achieving armchair scientist in the blink of an eye and thrusting himself into the biggest moment in human history, first contact.
WARNING! SPOILERS BELOW.
In January of this year I read and reviewed this story [LINK] and gave it 4 1/2 stars out of 5 or an A- overall. Last week the author shot me an email that he had updated and expanded the ending and asked me to take a look at how it had changed. Mr. Cawdron stated,
"There were two reasons behind the rewrite. Firstly, the [UN] invasion didn't come off as plausible, and understandably so, but the second reason was more important. Like a lot of writers dabbling in science fiction, I made the plot bigger than the characters. In rewriting the ending, I tried to focus on building some depth of character, wanting to ground the story and give the reader someone to relate to.
The chance to revise and improve a story is not something many authors consider, whether it was feedback from comments...
