Mike Cross: If you want to read top flight sci-fi covering aliens, alien worlds, political intrigue, personal intrigue and a romping good adventure - this entire series is for you.

Nicola Mansfield: One of my favourite volumes so far. Instead of the group setting off in the Rocinante to save the universe, each of the three crew members leaves to go home. An important woman in Amos' life dies and he returns to make sure everything is on the up and up. He runs into people from his past. Alex leaves because he needs to know if there could be a chance for him and his ex, as he's sorry he left her. He ends up getting together with Bobbi. Naomi receives a message from her ex and she leaves mysteriously not saying where she is going. All three of them end up having to deal with issues and people from their past. This was great background info on the characters. I just loved this. And in the end everyone gets back together to save the universe.

Samuele Clemente: It’s a pleasure going through the story unable to stop. Always clever and sharp unfolding the narrative…and Amos…Amos is simply Amos :D

DED: The plot to this one takes a backseat to character development. That's not to say that there's no plot. It's just that events happen here and there, and the focus is on how the crew of the Rocinante, separated by millions of miles, deal with these events and find their way back to each other.

James Holden has been the consistent POV character through this series. In this installment, we get the POV of Naomi, Amos, and Alex as well. So it was nice to see how they think and get their take on each other. The Rocinante is not just a job, it's family. Bobbie Draper, Chrisjen Avasarala, Fred Johnson, and Clarissa Mao are also present, and each adds to the story.

I read this after watching the latest season of The Expanse. Once again, I think the TV show did a better job handling the material, amping up the drama and focusing on important character moments which were glossed over in the book. We got to see more of the relationships Naomi had with Filip, Marcos, and her old crew. The book came up short here. It was almost as if Filip and Marcos were too busy, so why make the effort at all?

The whole Martian corruption storyline, which the TV show started exploring in...

Douglas: DISCLAIMER: It's in English so if you're buying internationally you don't have to worry about anything, which is what I worried about despite the description on the article.

Anyway, the book is awesome and it really shakes up the Expanse universe. Truth be told I can't wait for Season 5 to see how the show will handle it. This book is definitely not more of the same for anyone expecting the crew to go visiting more alien planets. It focuses mostly on the individual crew members of the Rocinante crew and spends time giving insight to their pasts. It's written in an almost reflecting manner while keeping us in the present and following each and every character through a sort of "make amends with the past" phase while they all hurdle together to the same thing, initially revealing why the Rocinante crew is more than just a crew.

Joe Karpierz: Several weeks ago, my son and I were out to dinner and talking about various things, as you do, when he asked the following question: "How do you know when you're done writing a book review?". Most times when he asks a question I can answer almost immediately. This one caused me to pause for a few moments before I could formulate an answer. The more pressing question for me is not how I know when I'm done writing a review, but just how do I go about starting one. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes it's not. Many times I'll fumble around looking for a way to get started. You may be able to tell that this is one of those times. But I'll see what I can do.

Luckily, James S.A. Corey - the pseudonym of the writing pair of Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck - don't have the same problem I do. Oh, it's probably true that when they start writing an Expanse story, they have some problems getting started, but the final product that we see on the page - or on our e-readers - or hear from a narrator always seems to get off with a bang. NEMESIS GAMES, book five of the Expanse series, does just that. The book starts with an attack on the shipyards of Callisto, and while it does have its quiet...
