$38 and change. This new price must be an error. Please explain the difference.

Ruth: I had this same little coffee maker, but in white and wanted a black one to go with my new black toaster. I marked all the features above as high, however the lid on mine is off centre, which made it a bit hard to get used to without spilling water or coffee when pouring. I could have sent it back but didn't want to bother with the hassle of doing so. Also, I must say I like the white one better as it is easier to see things and to know when it needs a thorough cleaning. The size is perfect for someone like me who lives alone and drinks coffee only twice a day. Would recommend it, but hope that others would receive one with a properly placed lid.

oliver1: This is a very basic coffee maker, though it does have a pause-and-serve feature. I like its clean and simple look and its small footprint. It brews quickly, though quite noisily. Two notes of caution: I have had 3 of these machines over the past several years, and they seem to last an average of about 4 years; also, there is no automatic shut-off, which is not important to me, but which might be to some.

Reed Maxson: I noticed a reviewer wrote that the coffee tastes like dishwater. I don't drink dishwater, so I wouldn't know about that. But obviously, the coffee flavor will vary depending on the blend, brand, grind, amount, etc., of coffee used.
I washed the the entire unit as instructed in the manual. Even so, a distinct "plastic" smell remained for the first 4 or 5 cycles. Maybe that's the "dishwater" taste. After 4 or 5 cycles, the coffee tastes as I expect it to taste.
There is no filter. I am using Melita Coffee filters that fit "most 8-12 coffee makers." They work well in this coffee maker, and are inexpensive.
The "grab a cup" feature seems pointless for a maker of this size. It allows you to pull the pot out of the maker while it is still brewing so you can pour yourself a cup before the brewing cycle is complete. But, it takes only about 8 minutes or less to make a full, 4 cup pot. I think you can wait that long. Plus, the feature complicates the lid and makes it more difficult to open and close.
The glass decanter, or carafe (I call it a pot), is squat in stature and square at the shoulders, making it difficult to fully empty -- it has to be fully...

Hadyn Painter: I love this coffee grinder. The only drawback is the messiness when removing the collection container. Some of the grounds tend to fall out of the chute and end up on the counter top. To overcome this I have the grinder sitting on a small cookie tray, which is easier to wash off than wiping the counter top. I answered a question request this morning. I was asked what the wattage was on the coffee makers. The stats in the profile say 110 watts. On the bottom of the base it says 650 watts

Tbird: Our family previously used that other name brand using the "pods" and found the Mr. Coffee brewed an excellent cup of coffee. No need to run to the store and buy the pods when you run out. Simply buy the beans, grind them and brew yourself and great cup of coffee. Less expensive as well. Mr. Coffee brings out a fresh aroma and very hot. We now have 2 of them, one on reserve. Presently we have had this one for over 2 years. Thank You Mr. Coffee

locally grown: I really struggled to replace my 15 year old coffee maker - it seems like they just don't make them that durable anymore. I read all the reviews for this one and bought it anyway. So far, so good! It's a basic model, and only makes 4 cups at a time. The hot plate keeps coffee warm but doesn't have an auto-shutoff, so you have to remember to turn it off. I usually pour my coffee into a giant thermos and switch it off immediately, but sometimes on the weekend I will let it do it's job for a while, and I haven't had any problems.
Brewing:
Some of the reviews mentioned weak coffee. I found that letting it sit for a while after brewing improved the strength of the coffee. I think it needs to drip a little longer than a lot of pots. Not a problem for me, because I switch it on, walk the dog, and then drink the coffee. Plenty of time for it to brew great coffee.
Filters:
I use an 8 cup basket filter and kind of cram it in. I don't like how smaller filters often let the grounds overflow. So that's been working for me pretty well.
Cleaning:
This seals up really tightly, so I recommend taking your filter and grounds out after brewing and then leaving the top of the coffee...

MargaretNC: This coffeemaker is ideal for a certain type of coffee aficionado who must have a morning cup of coffee every day, but who doesn't have gourmet tastes and is more interested in reliable coffeemaker function. I have owned an espresso maker and coffeemakers made by Krups, Faberware and Mr. Coffee, and this is the machine I have come back to most often. I did go through a phase of grinding fresh coffee every day and using unbleached cone filters exclusively, but I didn't notice enough of a difference to make the extra work worth it. Since then, my morning routine has been to use commercial ground coffee in either a basket or cone filter brewed fresh every morning, immediately followed by plain hot water for a 20 oz. mug of decaf tea to load up on fluids early in the day. I use the coffeemaker for 2 or sometimes even 3 more mugs of decaf tea later in the day because I get thirsty more often than hungry. With this much daily use, I've been pretty hard on coffeemakers, and I prefer to buy durable and reliable brands like Mr. Coffee rather than complicated and expensive machines that would wear out sooner.
The 4-cup size of this machine is perfect for a single person who brews...

A. Edwards: Nice little coffee maker, but the hot plate doesn’t last too long. I’ll probably switch brands next time.
