dgndgn: It is so hard to find a single serve unit that does not use pods or pod cup adapters that are fussy to use or is difficult to feed the water AND also brews a good cup...
this unit has all the marks of being THE ONE... except...
the flat grounds basket filter is insufficient to concentrate the grounds and the water to get a good brewing. If you use the small scoop they provide, the grounds will dissipate from the center where the water drips and give a poor brewing effort. Our Hamilton Beach dual brew does a better job at single serve due to the somewhat conical grounds basket.
Am sure if you put enough grounds in this flat basket, you might get ok results but at a high cost.
After much research, we found a great solution, a pour-over conical filter that fits just right and gives a great rich brew w just two teaspoons of grounds.
We got our pour-over filter from Walmart but is identical to this one at Amazon:

Emersyn Kayle: The media could not be loaded.  I am by no means a coffee snob, I will eat grounds, but I don't drink a lot per day. My old pot was just another thing that had to get washed and serviced regularly. I am a single mom living in an 800 sqft house, I don't have the space or sanity to struggle with my morning routine. I had been on the fence about getting a double machine with a pot and single serve, but also looked at some pricier single serve. I knew pods weren't an option for me. I did this search for almost a year because 1. I'm scared of commitment 2. I don't trust reviews anymore 3. I'm a single mom and 100 other things will get bought before I buy for myself.

Setting up: easy peasy lemon squeezy, but no need to even get lemon juice on your hands. Run an empty cycle and off you go! Literally. No clock to setup, no pre-order options or jenga puzzle to solve. I did two cycles, one with vinegar then one with just water. Less than 10 minutes and we were ready to rock.

For best results, use hot water when filling. I did notice my first cup got into the cup well under the recommended brew temperature. Using hot water in the machine got my coffee up to 186F. Also,...

lilcoupon: I've got every single coffees maker known to man. All of them have broke over time. One of those kureg type of makers exploded in my face and burned me severely. Those are under pressure and if the plastic piece that snaps the lid closed breaks off.....yep...you get an explosion of boiling hot coffee grinds that stick to your skin and it severely burns you wherever it lands on you. The coffee maker is absolutely perfect! Seriously...it's perfect! You make a single coffee in it just as you do a regular pot of coffee. Mr. Coffee is a stand up brand. I make a 20oz cup of coffee in 2 minutes with just a push of a button. I fill it with water in the morning. No leaks. I put a #2 coffee filter in the hopper with a scoop of my favorite coffee grounds. (It comes with a scoop that securely sets into a cradle on the side of the machine for safe keeping.) Like I said hit the button . A light turns on and coffee fills your cup! It makes iced coffee as well. I haven't used that yet so I can't report out on that function. I just love this low footprint coffee maker. Get one. You won't regret it!!!

sufi sadati: I was spending so much money going to big-chain coffee shops, only to pay for a $6 iced coffee that was at best mid. This iced coffee machine IS what you’re looking for. Not only does it work perfectly, but the taste of the brew compared to big-chain iced coffees is unparalleled. It has its own measuring stick for iced and hot + a coffee barista book. 10/10 for the machine and tumbler.

I have to give it 4 stars simply because of the color. I ordered the black version, as it’s the only option present. However, when I opened the box I revived a baby blue and white marble machine. I don’t have time to resend and waiting for another order, so I’m living with it; yet, everyday it sits on my counter it’s an eyesore compared the the rest of my kitchen.

Machine great, but beware of color mishaps.
