M&N: Shockingly, this actually works. We used this to deter cats from occasionally peeing behind their cat climbers/towers. After getting blasted 1-2 times, each cat learned to avoid the area. The sensitivity and range could be better or more consistent considering there have been times it wouldn't fire (at cat movement and hand tests), but overall it has worked in our situation for our problem. That said, it is far too expensive and we definitely won't be buying the grossly overpriced refill. The item is worth trying if you need a last resort and can swing the criminally high price tag.

Ellen: Omg! This thing is scary! Not only has it stopped my cats from bolting out the front door to certain death from cars on a busy street, but it has trained my family and guests as well. No one uses the front door anymore! I was the last person to get "trained". I would forget the thing was there and jump and scream as if it were a hissing rapid racoon coming after me more times than I will admit. The other day i met a snake in the middle of the trail while hiking and didn't even react. Nothing scares me like this hissing can of death. I totally recommend this thing! You can train cats, dogs, kids, anyone with this!!

Artist in Ohio: Like that it is an automatic deterrent. Harmless and scent free. My cats were too interested in my bird. I put it nearby, and they haven't tried to jump to the cage since. I've left it in place and now it's turned off.
Dislike that we can set it off when walking past.

Buizel Vela: Our cats are menaces, jumping onto places where they shouldn't, or onto our conduction stovetop after cooking which is very dangerous for them. To prevent this, we thought we'd grab this to keep them from going onto the counters. It definitely works if they move fast enough, but it seems like if they creep around, the motion detection doesn't spot them. I know that may just be the nature of the beast, but I would rather it be more sensitive to movement, even slow movement, than need to see something move faster in order to trigger. Not only that, it seems to have a mind of its own sometimes and not go off at all. I've waved my hand around the sensor from about 1-3 feet away and nothing, or maybe one spray. Back to what I said before, it's better than nothing but I wish it was a little more accurate...

jo: SECOND UPDATE: In some sort of cruel twist of irony the product failed to spray and stop the cat from scratching at our door at 5:00am a mere hours after I bought refills. So just know this… it very often doesn’t work. How reliable it is really depends on how wary or bold your cat is, because sometimes it will be triggered and sometimes it won’t. Personally, I think they priced this to take advantage of people’s desperation because very little will deter a cat, so if people have no other solutions they will settle for something that only sort of works. I think it’s also important to add that this product IS set up so the cat walks by it, not up to it. There are also no heat sources nearby to confuse the sensor. The device has new batteries as of half way through the first can and now that same can is about 1/4 full a few weeks since purchase. The cat can literally be 4-10 inches from it when scratching at our door and this can go on indefinitely with no spray. Then I open the door to shoo him away and I trigger it (sometimes, other times I can wave my hand in front of it and nothing happens so I turn it off and on again which seems to make it easier to trigger again)....

Ian Lloyd: It works to repel cats but it is only appropriate for guarding a specific approach where you need to stop the cat but you won’t be crossing the same space yourself. Given how expensive the refills (and the units) are you don’t want the spray activating all the time.
