Moobibear 2-Pack LED Camping Lanterns - 500lm Super Bright Lighting for Outdoor Adventures

Susie: Here in Colorado, we recently had a 24 hour power outage due to extremely Highwinds. These LED lanterns were very, very helpful during this outage. They were bright enough to move around the house and yard comfortably there handles make it easy to carry around unlike a flashlight, or hang if need be. I can’t speak to the battery life, as I have only use this once so far. But I would highly recommend having a set around your house for just such emergencies.

James Caldwell: These lanterns will serve most people fine for short term power outages and the like, but if you're going to be relying on these in a life or death emergency you'd be well served to put your money elsewhere. I recently purchased eight of these lanterns for my preps, and we ended up dropping one during a routine check on an outbuilding. The lantern failed completely. The drop was from about three 3.5 feet onto a concrete floor in temperatures just above freezing, and the plastic surrounding the battery compartment broke in several spots, completely separating in one area. The lantern stopped functioning at this point because the batteries could no longer maintain their position in the compartment. We have stowed the remainder of the lanterns away for backups, but we have started looking at different options for emergency lanterns.

Benoit l.: I bought these lanterns for emergencies i.e. power outages and I tested them with regular Ni-MH AA rechargeable AmazonBasics 2000 mAh batteries. They give about 500 lumens as advertised with fully charged batteries. I kept the lantern on and I still had a bit of light after 12 hours. There are however a few cons. The construction is rather crude; the sliding mechanism is a bit hard and the bottom cover doesn't screw on easily. But for the price, about CAD 10.75 each you can't expect perfection. Only time will tell if they are durable but since I will not use them very often and I will not use them for camping or other type of outdoor activity, I will not be able to judge them in that context.

CassandraCassandra: There are 3 AMAZING things about this product:

(1) The pictures do not do this device justice. This lantern is SUPER bright. I highly recommend wearing sunglasses the first time you open it. If my power goes out, I can open one of these and never know the difference.

(2) The lanterns have a great magnetic hold. One picture is the lantern on the fridge and another is the lantern on the breaker box door. The magnetic hold is strong (I'm confident I could walk away for a few hours and the lantern would not drop) but the hold is not to a point where you would have to wrestle it off the fridge.

(3) It runs on three Double A batteries! This was a big plus for me - seems like everything uses double A batteries. If the power goes out for a long time and the lanterns ends up needing new batteries, there is a really good chance there is a device with double A batteries near by.

USING THESE THROUGHOUT THE GREAT SNOW STORM OF TEXAS 2021 WHILE EVERYONE ALL OVER TEXAS HAS NO ELECTRICITY!!!....THESE THINGS HAVE PROVED THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD!!!! NOW GOING TO BUY EVEN MORE!!!!!! ******Wow! Very impressed with these lanterns! So much so that as soon as I tried them I ordered two more for my parents...I turned off the lights in one of our biggest rooms with total darkness and tried it out...it definitely lights up the room well enough to be able to see very well if power should go out...lightweight...compact...runs on batteries and safe to use around fur babies! Will be buying more as well!!

John Thomas Anderson: You'll notice that the second photo from this seller has a us vs other picture and ironically a couple of days after I bought and received this Moobibear 2 pack, my local hardware store had a sale on that middle 'other' (which was marked as 400 lumens) so I bought it as well. Here's how they actually compare......

The Moobibear is slightly brighter but it's pretty close as both appear to use Cobb lights of comparable length. Turned on sitting side by side you can't really tell the difference but when opening and closing by themselves the Moobibear felt slightly brighter. I'd estimate it about similar to a 40 watt lightbulb. The cheaper 'other' about a 35 watt bulb if there was such a creature. Pretty damn impressive for both using only 3 AA batteries.

Both open and close the same way but the Moobibear is a bit stiffer so it might also be a bit more water resistant but I'd still put a plastic bread bag over either one if left out in the rain. And both appear to be of comparable construction though the Moobibear was about half an once heavier. Battery compartments are also identical.

However there is one place where the Moobibear is superior and that's in it's...

Robbie: This is the second time I have purchased these lanterns. I love them so much I purchased some for my friends. They are compact yet so bright, I keep one in all my vehicles, also take camping, they are great to hang at night to see, or for the kids as they travel back and forth between camp spots. I love that they have the magnets on the bottom and will stick and hold even upside down. I also have two in the house in case of power failure, or I need a light, I have a farm and have used them when I have had to feed in the dark. They are so small yet so powerful great to have for so many uses. They are very durable, my old ones work as well as the new and they have been well used.

Robert B: I bought 8 of these (2 of the advertised 4 packs) - they shipped as 4 boxes of 2 units in each. Which is okay, I just wanted the volume pricing. I selected these because of the COB LED's and the magnetic base. Arrived in good order. The construction is good. The base unscrews easily and the springs and tabs in the battery compartment are strong - batteries lock in place nicely. The base screws back on easily with no hang-ups or cross threading. The base screws on tight and the construction materials appear to be strong. The lantern light slides open to turn on and slides to close to turn off. I put batteries IN ALL 8 LANTERNS and all of them worked perfectly. The sliding of the lamps to open and close is firm and smooth, but not easy...... takes some purpose to open and close - which is fine because it means a good tight fit and potentially more weather proof. When opened the light is extremely bright. You cannot look directly at the light. I have other COB LED lanterns (without the magnetic base) and side-by-side, these from Moobibear are brighter! The magnets on the magnetic base are strong enough to attach perpendicular to a metal surface (tested on my refrigerator) and the...
