For the money is dificult to have something better tho-

Vincent GenovaVincent Genova: When I saw an adventure/touring bike for around 400 bucks I got very excited, usually the entry price on something like this is $1,000 and up. Unfortunately it ended up being too good to be true and I received a bike with flaws big enough that Mongoose themselves suggested I do not ride it.
I'll start with the good.
This bike has features you just don't see at this price. Disc brakes mounted inside the frame, internally routed cables. front and rear rack/fender mounts, bottle mounts everywhere, a frame bag, disc brake specific rims (lot of budget bikes throw rim brake rims on, showing a brake track that will never be used). It really is an unbelievable value for a touring bike. The frame is great, rides smooth and is surprisingly light too.
The included saddle was plenty comfortable and it even came with metal cage pedals! Saddle and pedals are the first things I immediately replace on my budget bikes but these were good enough.
The shifting performance is reliable but not that responsive or quick, still perfectly adequate. There is some play in the levers microshift system that isn't exactly confidence inspiring, should be fine for most uses but if you...

Shane A. NearhoofShane A. Nearhoof: This bike has some serious potential. I decided on this bike to build up as a sort of budget build. After reading reviews I decided to upgrade the tires right off the bat. First, we sanded it down and painted it. After about 70 miles of riding I got started in replacing parts. I personally don't really like Drop bars so I put on a flat bar I had. I will say that the shifters that come stock are really nice. First ,thing I found was that the low gear end is not enough for the type of climbing I do. I upgraded to an 8 speed 12t-34t over the stock 7 speed which is 12t-32t. I wanted to put on a larger cassette but, unfortunately I don't think I have the room on the stock hub body. So, unless I swap out the 7 speed hub body for an 8/9 speed hub body, I'm pretty much stuck at 34t 8 speed. With this bike being a 7 speed, I obviously had to swap shifters and brake levers when I went to flat bar and 8 speed. I have not ridden the new gear arrangement any distance but, have a tour coming up so i will try to remember to update this and inform everyone of how the 34t is working out. Last thing on the list to upgrade are the brake calipers. While they "technically" do the job, I'm just not...

Kevin Yung: Shimano Tourney groupset is really a step below a proper entry level. Granted it's probably better than whatever you may find on a really really cheap walmart or canadian tire bike. I had never tried Microshift sti shifters before and I don't think I will ever again. They are really clunky and for some reason, no matter how many adjustments I've tried, the front derailleur seemed to want to hop onto a nonexistent "middle" chainring before moving up to the largest chainring. Nevertheless, this was within the expectations and does enough to give you something that moves when you pedal.
A few of the amazon.com reviews noted the terrible brakes. The brakes really are bad. As some have said, they provide no stopping power no matter any adjustments. This makes this bike dangerous in my opinion given you can reach a pretty decent speed despite the drivetrain. Other reviews have suggested an immediate replacement of the disc brakes but I saw it as a compromise not worth it. Not everyone will have the know-how and tools to install new disc brakes and the investments needed to make this bike properly rideable is just not worth the penny pinching. Use the money towards a decent used...

LJLJ: The bike is great! It’s bigger than I thought it would be and as I’m 6’1” the bike fits me well. For reference in the photos, the railing is 43” tall.
I did have the same tire problems as others reviews on the amazon.com site so do expect to replace those and/or tubes at least. My bike also came with the handlebar wrap torn up, though amazon.ca refunded me the cost that I paid for a bike shop to re wrap the bars.
All in all this is a really nice bike and the fact that it can accommodate so many modifications allows someone to truly make it there own. The components that it comes with aren’t top of the line, but they are nice and will serve the bike well for quite a while.
I recommend this bike to anyone that likes versatility in the terrain they ride. It’s great on the pavement and likewise on the trails.

antonio mesa jr: Manuel that came with bike was very generic and show others bike installation pictures. Guess they make one book for all their model. Bike specific instructions would have had things a lot easier.
