John: Bought this for a project and never used it. Kept it anyway for future use. Very well made.

marsha Chaney: Fantastic for what I needed it for.
The cost is reasonable Dk why my work doesn’t keep them on hand.

Allan Gabston-Howell: I have been using a wide variety of terminal extraction tools, including the original Molex tool, on a more or less daily basis, for decades. Because of a mislaid tool, I ordered this item to utilize on a current project, and I have to say that, even at the $18.31 I spent on it, it was money wasted.

After decades of knowing how to hold the wires to permit proper insertion for the business end of the tool into the connector, for rapid disengagement of the terminal barbs to permit terminal extraction, this tool follows none of the rules that applied to the earlier generation tools.

What's the problem

The tool is made out of thinner gauge metal which is not thick enough to displace the terminal retention barbs far enough to permit a clean terminal ejection. The thinner metal also wanders in ways that are completely unpredictable upon tool insertion, which means that about 50% of the time you will end up with one side or the other of the tool into the interior of the terminal, instead of between the outside of the terminal and the connector housing, where it's supposed to be.

This results in damaged terminals, as well as damaged connector housings, which is...

Daniel: If you manage to get it from Amazon warehouse like I did for $4 it is a solid tool for a reasonable price. However, its original price is absurd and I don't recommend paying over $10 for this

H. Poling: I had a little computer build that required reworking the fixed cables on a basic power supply. I wanted to salvage some wires from old parts and decided to buy this "official" Molex tool since the pins are tiny and have limited clearance to the retaining tabs. The tool worked fine for emptying a 24 pin motherboard block and some others. Other reviewers reported problems with this tool, I think my success is based on a couple of subtle points:
a) make sure the prongs go into the little slots alongside the female socket
b) the prongs have to go in until the hilt of the tool touches the plastic connector block
c) wiggling the tool slightly as you push it it and when it seats helps work the prongs to release. Note I wrote, "slightly".
d) the connector (and I suspect this may be where others were disappointed) should also be pushed forward/in to help release the retaining prongs. (As the tool goes in, it pushed the connector back, jamming the retainer tabs against the end wall of the slots. Working the pin forward frees the tabs to flex.)
e) If you do all the above to free the connector, it may simply take a little more pull to get it out. For me, some came out freely...

S13_Mills: The item I received was made of decent quality steel - I didn't feel worried about bending the tips - others have commented the tips got bent very easily, I wonder if they got a different version / co-mingled inventory?

The tool is easy to use, and exactly what you need for removing pins from ATX connectors. Removing the pins is never SUPER easy, but with this tool, you can do it repeatably, without worrying about breaking the pins themselves.

I bought another kit before buying this, and the ATX pin tool tips were too thick, and it wasn't useful - this item is more expensive, but there's a reason for that - it's the real deal.

Richard S. Bates: I bent the pins almost immediately. Tool just didn't seem to go deep enough to unclip the retaining clips on the pins. So didn't work on the non OEM Molex plugs on the SATA cables I was trying to re-pin. Got the job done with 1c staples.

Amazon Customer: Absolutely not worth the price premium, at all. This tool is pretty much the exact same quality as much cheaper alternatives except has molex branding and looks fancier. It didn't work any more effectively than cheaper tools.

In fact, don't even bother buying a tool to extract Mini-Fit Jr connectors, just use some loose staples and a pair of pliers, you can look up how to do this on Youtube. It's cheaper, easier, and far more effective and reliable than these tools.

A. Kent: Don't waste your money on cheaper alternatives. Instead of replacing cheap alternatives half way through a job because they broke or just don't work anymore, buy this once and you're set. Pops out the connectors first time with minimal force and doesn't mangle them so badly that you can't get them back in.
