WLD: Our excellent Moen kitchen sink valve started leaking at the base of the cartridge. Moen honored their warranty by sending us a new cartridge, but it was taking a week to arrive, so we paid for this one to arrive at Amazon Prime speed while the Moen one was enroute.
When it arrived and I took the old one apart to replace it, it became obvious that it was still in perfect shape, but just had worked loose!
I tightened the old one and it's been working perfectly for several months now.
I suppose I could/should have returned this one for a refund, since ONE spare should be plenty.
I wish the online info had educated me about the possibility of the cartridge loosening, and the simple solution. :-(

NikTzo: Replaced this on an old sink that had over 10yrs of wear and “beat me up” by rough inhabitants lol, fixed the leaking that occurred upon opening the sink. The triple hole rubber seal at the beginning of it had a deformity around one of the holes, which honestly was probably due to water minerals degrading it over the course of all those years, which is normal. Glad it worked, because I much rather replace a tiny part than the whole thing. Although for what this product is, I will say it is highly overpriced. So only buy here if you can’t find elsewhere or are short on time to go buy it elsewhere. That part probably cost them 1$ to make and you are paying 20$ lol

Rl: My old cartridge was leaking and I kept tightening the plastic nut to make it stop, but the nut would get loose in a few months and it would start to leak again. Although the nut can be tightened with the water pressure on, the instructions specify one quarter of a turn after hand tight. Note that hand tight must be with no water pressure, unless you have a better grip than I have. However, a better way is to tighten until the plastic nut is at the end of travel (this is quite noticeable and nothing breaks), which will be reached sooner than the specified fraction of turn if you hand tighten with no water pressure. Note also that the plastic nut gets smooth after one use and, as a result, it will get loose over time. So, it is not a good idea to re-use the plastic nut, even if it looks perfectly fine. When installed properly, it is great!

Heidi: This was an easy install following video instructions on You Tube. In just a few minutes, I now have a tight faucet that does not leak. Happy Dance!

After ordering this part, I heard that MOEN has a free lifetime replacement policy on cartridges. To get a free replacement cartridge, you need to dig up your purchase paperwork, or maybe you registered the product, which makes it even easier. You call Moen at 800-289-6636. You will need to identify the model number, but they did ask me to email a pic to pic@moen.com to confirm.

Even if you can't find your purchase paperwork, I'd recommend giving Moen a call. It seemed fairly easy to set up replacement, which is mailed to you. The replacement will take about a week to arrive, so keep that in mind.

I ordered my replacement cartridge after making this purchase. I intend to keep my "spare" replacement for the next time this occurs, and that way I won't be waiting for a week to order another! I'm also keeping this in mind for my OTHER Moen faucets.

Robert A.: My Via faucet developed a problem where the handle was harder to move and when you moved it there was a squeaky rubber on rubber noise. It didn't drip, but the only replaceable part is the 1255 cartridge. It took about 10 minutes to replace which included rounding up the tools and then putting them away! The cartridge can only go in one way and I used the new plastic nut that came with the new cartridge rather than the plastic nut that was used with the original cartridge per the instructions. The cartridge comes with the retaining nut, a small allen wrench to loosen the screw holding the handle onto the faucet body, and an extra screw should you drop the original down the drain! Very satisfied, the faucet works like new. By the way, Moen will provide these cartridges free of charge for the life, but I went ahead and ordered this one because Moen was weeks out for delivery. When theirs gets here I will have a back up!

Camille: My Moen side mount single handle pull down faucet is 4 1/2 years old. Lately the handle seemed loose and then it started dripping water from the handle even if the water was OFF. I researched what the problem could be and I determined I needed to replace the ceramic cartridge. I looked up my model and I needed a 1255 Moen cartridge. It arrived in 2 days thanks to Amazon! It's no fun using the laundry room sink for my kitchen sink!

I am a 61 year old female and I completed the repair in 5 minutes! It is so easy! First turn off the water. The new cartridge comes with an allen wrench, new set screw and new cartridge and new plastic outer nut.

Using the allen wrench remove the handle and discard the old set screw. Place the new set screw inside the handle but don't tighten it yet. Now unscrew the metal decorative cover cap. Now using pliers or a wrench (I used pliers) remove the old black plastic nut. Pull the cartridge out. Mine was in bad shape!

I used a paper towel to clean out the debris from inside the faucet. Then I popped the new cartridge inside by lining up the grooves. It will only go in one way so rotate it around until the proper grooves line up and...
