Dlrwrth: I bought this because it was supposed to burn a lot longer than cheap alcohol.
The cheap alcohol burned about 45 minutes in my tabletop burner& this only burned 20 minutes longer!

LacyLacy: I love, love, love this Moda Flame Bio-Ethanol fuel. In the past I have used gel fuel cans along with a grate and logs that holds up to 3 gel cans. I must admit that the gel fuel put out more heat than the bio fuel and seemed to burn longer. However on the flip-side, the gel fuel gave an unpleasant odor and the flames from 3 cans lacked the ambiance of a natural fireplace. When I received my bio-fuel, I took my old gel fuel grate and placed my 18 inch Ethanol burner on top of it. I then took my old logs and placed them around my burner. I poured only1 quart (bottle) in my burner and it created this beautiful fire as you see on my attached pictures. My fire burns for about 2 hours or so on 1 bottle of fuel and my guests love it! They thought it was a natural gas fireplace until I refueled. My burner can hold up to 3 quarts, so I'll know on the next occasion to add more initially for a longer burn time. Each bottle of fuel has a protective strainer type top for pouring without spillage. My only complaint is that on several bottles, the protective aluminum and plastic cover did not easily peel off and I had to scrape it off to get down to the strainer covering to pour. Rose B.: I am so happy that I switched from burning wood in my fireplace to my Moda Flame log set.
All the esthetics, without the mess and worry of the real thing!
The Bio-Ethanol fuel is easy to use and absolutely does not give out any fumes. Even though I can operate without my chimney vent being open, I usually have it open for part of the burning time.
By adjusting the flame level, I can have one continuous fire on one quart of the Bio-Ethanol lasting 3 1/2 to 4 hours depending on the height of the flames desired.
Additionally, my fireplace is in a room with a vaulted ceiling and I would guesstimate that it brings the room temperature up 5-8 degrees. This room is approximately 15 x 20 feet.
Bottom line, I would recommend (and I have) making the switch to any one who may not have an operational fireplace or one at all, go for it! It's a perfect solution for ambience and warmth!!

Pentheseleia: I use this product in my unvented fireplace with a log set also from Moda. I chose a bioethanol insert because I cannot get gas where I live and I did not want to cut a hole in the house to vent the fireplace.

On the positive side, this appears to be fairly economical compared to other fuels. It also lasts as long time in the fireplace, but nowhere near the all-day fires I am used to with wood fires. I also like the fact that I can order a case and have it on hand for when I want it, even when I am snowed in (which happens every year where I live).

On the negative side, although the company says that this fuel will heat the room, I have found no difference. The company also says that the fuel is odorless, which just is not true. The bottles also make it very difficult to pour without spilling the fuel. Although this has never resulted in a fire where I didn't want it, it is a waste of the product.

The product results in a real flame which I find close to the flame of a gas fire. Aesthetically, however, it looks a little out of place in my traditional fireplace. I am going to look for the fake embers that are used with gas logs, which should help overcome that...
