ReadingJeanne: So far these shears appear to be an excellent value for the price. They are sharp and work smoothly. First task was cleaning out garden before first freeze—cutting up tough okra stalks and clipping large tomato vines. I had been using Much more expensive shears but I tend not to take good care of them so they needed replacing. These are well worth the price so far!

MJH: My husband has been working in the forest at his golf course pulling down invasive ivy and he really likes that he can easily see these pruners if he has to put them down on the forest floor. They work well.

Scott E. High: You can't ask for much more than this! A $9.99 pruner with an average of 4.8 stars out of five with 96% of the 545 reviewers giving it 4 or 5 stars. Pretty impressive especially considering the price point and the limited lifetime warranty. Of course Amazon offers their 30 day return privilege to help mediate the risk even further.

We live in hot and humid Southwest Florida where the plants grow so fast that you can see the daily growth on some of them. With the high humidity and the already 90 degree temps, it won't be long before the rainy season starts and the plants explode with growth. I have tried a lot of pruners over the past 23 years, have broken my share of them (even the more expensive ones) and have lost the rest in our wetlands. Now I spray paint all of my garden/landscaping tools with 'safety orange' so that they're easier to find when I drop them.

Having a trigger finger in my right hand along with tendonitis requires me to pace myself, let the pruner do its job, and not ask it to cut something too large for its capabilities. That is where the damage comes in or the spring flies out -- never to be found. These fit my hands...

Whimsical1Whimsical1: Finally nice enough weather to try my new shears!

These are a really nice pair of solidly made shears.

I have been a Fiskars fan for over 20 years but my last two pair (over $20 each) were very disappointing. The grips were so thick and wide that even me, with a woman's size xl glove, could not extend my blades to the full open position. They had both been sticking closed from early on in my purchase and the lock mechanisms had become small and useless if and dirt got in the groove. My newest pair I used about 10 times and went back to my old dull ones because even when my hand was fully stretched it wasn't opening the blades far enough to cut anything beyond twigs. Even my husband had the same problem and he wears an xl glove.

That said, after reading through tons of reviews about grips etc. I chose these. I am super impressed. The grip is really comfy without being too bulky to deal with. The bottom handle has a rubber grip for no slip but the top doesn't. I thought that was weird until I realized it was so your hand can smoothly slide up and down on the top for a better position on the shears. The blades extend all the way with my hand in...
