Outback Jack: I have used these for trimming Lantana bushes before the leaves dry up and blow everywhere. Perfect size for trimming down the Lantana. Handle is comfortable and this is a tool that will easily last a lifetime.

Amazon Buyer Since 2002: Sadly, we lost the one we had. I *never* would have bought a new one -- the old one was that good. It was purchased in 1995 in Corona, CA -- I think at Home Depot. That's right -- you read that correctly -- 1995. I wish I had taken a picture of it to put here so you could see it. ***Somebody said that this tool would rust -- yeah, sure. There was a little rust on it -- I kept a little oil on it once in a while, but it did not sit outside in the rain or anything -- the blades never rusted -- ever*** I was so glad that Amazon sold this clipper. Even the old one would cut 3/4 of an inch and WE NEVER sharpened it. The handle was pretty worn, but I put some good "duck" tape on it in around 2010. This is the BEST clipper money can buy. The new model is almost identical to the old one -- the spring, the locking mechanism and the shape of it. The blade is a little bigger and the fastener between the blades is better and improved. Spend the money. You will never replace it -- unless, of course, like me, you mistakenly lose it. Imagine -- 28 years on the old clipper and some lucky soul has that old clipper right now. Buy it. Douglas S.: This pruner is made of high carbon (?) steel, so while it will take and retain a very sharp cutting edge, be advised it _will_ rust and degrade the cutting edge if it's not properly cared for. After each use, the cutting head should be lightly oiled or at the very least, dried thoroughly. Otherwise, it works well, but is probably too large to fit small hands.

Silvester Percival: Growing roses are my thing and these pruners are the best I've found. I have about 40 roses in my garden and, owing to the long growing season in Central Texas, pruning is a regular chore -- the only thing I do more frequently is mow the lawn! I used to just buy a new pair of pruners every year or two from Lowe's to get me by. But I noticed how high the attrition rate became: some cheap pruners would break (especially if they have a fancy open/close mechanism, or cheap springs), others would get dull and stay dull, others just simply felt uncomfortable in the hand, and some were the wrong size or design. I finally decided to invest in a good pair of pruners that would last more than one season and these were it! I know there are more expensive ones out there, but, in my opinion, having tried the "best," I think Corona offers the best bang for the buck of any pruner on the market.
