Lorenna Corral Lorenna Corral: I like this violin but I didn’t really think about the fact that the shoulder rest won’t stay on it.. seems obvious but it wasn’t until I received the product that I two and two together based on the shape.
The bow is fine as well but ended up using my own rosin. The one with the violin is ok.
It’s cool it came with a case and a 1/8 to 1/4 jack but the head phones only work on one side (super cheap).
Wish I thought about the shoulder rest aspect. But it is a cool little violin.

JP: My main concern with getting a cheap violin was tuning, and I did struggle at first getting the pegs to stick. I took 3 steps and found while the strings would stay in tune relative to each other, they were each consistently a half-step flat. No amount of soaping, sanding, and pressing would make them stay at A440.
1. make sure the strings are flush to the wall where the peg meets the pegbox.
2. gently sand the pegs and treat with peg paste at the contact points
3. IMPORTANT - The wood is hydroscopic, it swells with humidity. In a dry climate, get an instrument case humidifier (or just a damp sponge) and put it in your case for 24 hours.
Took it to a pro, no dice. Bad holes! Oh well, returned and trying again.

Jen DollingerJen Dollinger: CONS
As a brand new violin user, I am mostly happy with this purchase. If the bridge came aligned, like it was advertised, I would have rated this five stars. In it's current condition it is very difficult to play the A string without running into the E and D strings. I took it to a local music shop and they referred me to a luthier to shape the bridge. (They also warned me never to purchase a violin on Amazon)
Even though this is advertised as "silent", it produces a good amount of noise. Had I understood the bridge problem, I might have just gone with an acoustic, instead.
PROS
The set up was very easy; I watched the video and followed along. Making sure the bridge stayed in the right place took a couple of tries.
The sound this makes is nice. I do recommend using the headphones as it sound smoother with them.
The bow works well, just score the resin before you try using it. It took a little bit to get the bow to make noise.

Overall, I like this violin and can't wait to dive into learning how to play. I bought this as a "hobby" and wasn't looking for a high priced investment.

D'nita Kuhn Stanfield: Bought this violin so as to not disturb others while playing. It is not silent by no means but way quieter than an acoustic violin. The bow was tight from the moment I got it. Even though the hairs were tight there were several that were lose. The rosin is very very dusty. It had a cracked peg which broke when I restrung it. I never used the strings it came with...so I don't know how they sound. The items I replaced: bow, strings, rosin, pegs...minus the bow everything else was an additional $30. oh and I had my own headphones. It plays great for what any beginner to mid level players could ask for. I have hooked it up to a multi-effect guitar pedal (zoom g1x four) and wow this thing can sing! A friend of mine picked it up and started playing Schindler list with some reverb and it sounded pretty close to a classic violin in a concert hall. I would buy it again for a beginner to practice and not cause the dogs to howl. With the ability add pedals it can keep someone happy for a few years.
