Lynn Burton: I had a couple of boards on my wooden deck that had rotted around the end screws leaving crumbled wood. I used this to stabilize and harden the wood around the screws and it worked great. Not a permanent fix but since the rest of the boards were sound it will help the boards last another year before replacement. Great for any area where the wood is crumbing, easy to use, just apply with a brush and let it harden. A carpenter who does historical preservation where is sometimes hard to replace a wooden feature told me about this and it works.

Amazon Customer: It does a good job of solidifying punky wood, and dries fast. It took half a can to deal with four picnic table legs, so it's not cheap.

Corcoran: When I received the can, it was difficult to open (it has a plastic safety cap, like a child-proof prescription bottle, which you push down and turn, not the metal top shown in the product photo). So to open the can, I tried everything I could think of: tapping the cap with the handle of a screwdriver, wearing rubber gloves to get a better grip, locking the can in a vise, then leaning on the top while turning the cap with vise-grip pliers. Then I tried turning the can upside down in a cup of boiling water to let it soak. Nothing! The cap seemed to be welded on (I think it actually had gotten some of the liquid in the threads, which acted like glue when it dried).

I finally called Minwax customer service on Monday. They apologized and sent me a new can by FedEx, which arrived on Thursday. The cap opened quite easily, so I'm a happy camper! The product itself works great, as mentioned in the other reviews. I'd have given five stars if not for the problem and delay with the cap.

Oh, I almost forgot! If you wear glasses, put safety goggles over them. This product is very thin and spatters when using a brush at or above eye level. I didn't realize that I had gotten some...
