JB: We needed a picnic/soccer/outside blanket, my husband asked for one that he could lay down on. Voila. Folds easily, looks decent, works well. Good for anyone with kids who anticipates a lot of sitting down outside at various places.

Luna: I had to return this blanket after just an hour of use at the park. The material is so thin and cheap that everything pokes through it, and carrying it around is also quite the pain even with the little drawstring bag they provide. For the price, I would say look elsewhere. I ended up finding a far nicer one on eddie bauer and they had a deal so I got a 60 dollar blanket for 25 bucks, cheaper than this one. I would actually suggest look for a retailer that actually sells camping and outdoor gear as they specialize in these things. I would not confidently say that this blanket was waterproof, and even came with some holes in it.

DL: I like the size of this picnic blanket and how it’s got two different fabrics for the top and bottom. The fuzziness makes it soft and cozy, however, one thing to note is that, it’s harder to get rid of dirt and food crumbs as they can get caught/stuck. I also wonder about durability as the shiny silver material at the bottom seems to already show deep fold lines only after a couple use. Hope it doesn’t crack or rip!

I think it’s worth mentioning that the blanket doesn’t come with any instructions re: how to fold back properly once you open it. When opening it for the first time, it’s best to take a picture or two to use as a reference later.

Steve GSteve G: The problem with traditional picnic blankets is that they absorb moisture. There are really two scenarios where a picnic blanket is used, on sand or on grass. Even on a nice day grass can be still quite wet underneath in the soil. Sitting on a blanket brings that water to the surface. On sand, generally the sand is dry but what happens when someone goes in swimming and then sits on the blanket while still wet? The moisture goes through the blanket and when it's time to leave you have sand sticking to the underneath of the blanket. Gosh, that brings back memories of my youth.

This picnic blanket from Michael Josh has addressed this problem. The underside of the blanket has a plastic waterproof backing. Problem solved.

This is a very large blanket at almost 6 feet square and yet it folds down into a small package with a usable handle to carry it. For longer term storing they include a nice drawstring bag, Folding the blanket takes a bit of practice because if you don't get it right then the Velcro won't line up to keep the blanket in place. It's a bit like folding a map. The instructions are pretty good as it shows photos of each stage of folding.
